Scored 4 1tb NVMe drives for $25 each, what should I do with them?

I found these on sale at my local Walmart for $25 each. My current rig already has a better 1tb NVMe SSD in it and I could slap one of these in to expand that, and put some into other rigs I have, I was wondering about something more interesting than just expanding some storage.

I was thinking of getting a 4x NVMe PCIe adapter like this one, and running them in raid zero for the lols (would not keep anything important on it!)

Anyone have any other interesting ways I could use these?

    I am already rocking 2x 4tb NVME’s 6X 10TB HDD’s 1x 3TB HDD and 1x 4TB HDD for my physical media backups and games. My ASRock Z790 Riptide Wifi has 5x NVME slots I’ll fill the other 3 eventually. You can pick up external usb nvme enclosures and put like an emulation front end on one like batocera or something like that. or use them as on the go storage when going over to friends houses to bring some movies along to playback on the media player of their consoles. You could add expansion to your game consoles or increase your pc storage. If you PC supports bifurcation in the bios then you can get a pcie nvme expansion card and increase storage. lotta options. I saw some person use the brand new raspberry pi 5 and an NVME adapter thingy to add 4x nvme’s to a tiny tiny tiny form factor nas.

    Arguably, you should return them and buy a single drive with DRAM. The WD blue series doesn’t have standalone DRAM, which pretty heavily effects sustained read/write performance.

    If you’re able to score some other parts I’d build a nas/HTPC setup. Good learning experience and a good thing to keep around the house.

    I’m pretty sure this is the store I work at, there were 4 left, when I went to get one after my shift they were gone. I was mad, but not surprised. good price.

    Doesn’t matter – they’re Western Digital NVMEs. They’ll all be dead inside of a year anyway and WD will claim ‘normal wear’ and renege on the warranty.
