I have yet to meet a single person who plays Little Big Planet
Salemsaberhagon
lol I feel called out, I did intitially get upset and then was like, oh wait, I don’t even play that anymore
Dreaming_Dreams
i find it more sad that all the amazing levels that were created by the community are gone forever, majority of my playtime with this series was playing community levels
JokersFunnyBoners
Some people think these companies should pay for these servers forever. I don’t know WHY they think this but they do.
Peaceful_Ronin
I think it’s more so just the end of nostalgia. I personally played the first one a lot as a kid, and people are upset that that’s being lost. And yet, you can still technically play the story/main part of the game, it’s just the community stuff that’s gone.

Exactly
Nutsnboldt
I wasn’t actively playing WC3 at the time they gutted it.
Illfury
I think that is missing the point. Taking servers offline is reasonable. Disabling my ability to play a product I purchased is not reasonable.
Daugrimm
I think that if the server is going down, the code must go to public domain, so the game still exists
Hungry-For-Cheese
As long as people can start doing their own server hosting.
How many players are active is irrelevant. It’s a matter of principle. You bought a product, you’re entitled to be able to use said product.
If your use of the product can be removed or is not permanent, you should be getting guarantees of how long support will be at minimum for said product up front.

I played through all of LBP 1 recently, I 1000% miss that the servers are down – but I understand why they aren’t up anymore.
End of an era and all.
Oculicious42
Whoever thinks that making it illegal to shut down a multiplayer server don’t seem to realize that that would mean 95% less online games, it makes funding any game an exponentially riskier investment
hungrybeargoose
That’s sad, I haven’t had a chance to play it yet.
At the moment I have Switch, Xbox 360 and a fairly low spec PC
Was thinking of one day getting a PS4 and playing some older titles such as this.

It’s nice to know the option was there
WolfSilverOak
We never played it online, so no big loss to us.
But we also don’t play the PS3 any more either.
adellredwinters
Big loss from a game preservation standpoint, has nothing to do with whether people were currently playing the game or not.
AVBforPrez
AEW Fight Forever looking around nervously right now.

The point of Little Big Planet was “Play, Create, Share”.
There is a huge amount of user created content stored on the servers. Really, really amazing and creative levels that far exceed the levels available in the base games.
Shutting down the servers is essentially deleting all of this. This isn’t acceptable.
It’s almost like shutting down an art museum, and instead of selling on the art, just burning it so nobody can enjoy it anymore.
They need to make sure there is a backup option available so the community can crowd fund an alternative in the future. Just deleting everything is really a horrible thing to do.

This meme is used completely wrong.
Bottom panel should be “who wants to host servers so players can play little big planet?”
And everyone would raise their hands.
CXC_Opexyc
1. Is that for only first one or all of them?
2. If I ever get nostalgic, do I get to play it in singleplayer at least?
zhocef
Oh, this isn’t about The Crew? That one seemed to upset half the sub. A surprising number of people suddenly cared about a game with 24 daily Players, two sequels, and Forza as an alternative.
i wanna get a psp again solely for og little big planet
Manoreded
This makes me feel old, I played the first and I think a little of the second and I just found out the third, which I didn’t even play, came out 10 years ago =)
Anyways, 10 years is a long time, I think closing down the servers is fair. I do hope all that content is somehow preserved for posterity rather than just being wiped forever.
