99% of Linux users don’t DIY anything. It’s literally just installing a (some poorly audited and maintained) packages to suit your needs and googling some tutorials if you have a strange hardware.
Which is okay. There’s no shame in it but let’s just quit pretending that using i3 on Arch is some huge feat.

I agree, but also: Food, music, and houses can’t harvest your personal information without you knowing it. Building everything yourself ensures you 100% know what works and why it does/doesn’t. Is it practical, hell no lol. Just making a counter-argument.
