Is the PSU sitting on top of a glass? it looks like it… It is either staged or they are imbeciles.. you can be sure if something starts on fire I am grabbing the power plug and a fire extinguisher rather than my phone.
Any decent power supply would turn off long before that happened.
That doesn’t mean a power supply can’t possibly cause a fire, but this power supply was either defective or it was staged.
I have a friend who went through two cheap power supplies back in the day realizing that they’re not strong enough to handle the Old King 980 TI. Both caught on fire in a similar manner along with a loud pop.

Staged as fuck. There is a glass below the PSU, which I assume was filled with alcohol, gasoline or something else which is flamable, and then ignited.
Normally, the power supply will be inside the computer and fixed to it – nobody’s risking burning their hands off by unscrewing a flaming PSU to take a photo from that angle.
There is a small chance that he was running the PSU outside, supported by the glass, in case there were case clearance issues – but in this case, the user is stupid, risking their life and others if it’s an apartment by taking photos instead of calling 911 or putting out the fire himself.
why would 500 watt not be good for a 2080 ti ???
Staged, defective or very crappy psu.
If the power draw is bigger than the psu can supply it should just shut off.
