The MCW Jak Raven kit is in-vogue at the moment as an SMG replacement. It is good at that role, and great as a sniper support too.
But I just hit my Rebirth solos PR (32) with it as my primary, "long range" weapon. I also used it when I hit my Vondel solos PR (34), and have had tons of high kill games with it as a primary on both maps.
Here's my current build for it:

(It's slightly different in the Vondel clips above as those are a bit older but this is my favourite at the moment)
Strengths:
– absolutely dominates in TTK out to 20+ metres, very competitive out to 30+ metres, competitive even at longer ranges… if you can hit your shots. 30+ metres is a huge chunk of your fights on both Rebirth and Vondel if you're an aggressive player.
– movement and ADS speed competitive with SMGs, you'll be on target much quicker than anyone with a normal AR / battle rifle and can zoom around the map
– because it can handle the close range so well, you can use it with niche guns that would normally be too limited in range – shotguns, akimbos, tac stance builds, full movement speed SMGs etc
Weaknesses:
– damage per mag – 40 is the most you can get and at 30+ metres that's enough for 1 down only realistically. As a primary, this is a solos only gun
– bullet velocity – closer to an SMG than an AR so hitting moving targets at range can be a challenge. You won't be cross-mapping people with this. I think it is fine on Rebirth Island and Vondel where most fights are close to mid range; more of a stretch on Fortune's Keep or Ashika where the average engagement distance tends to be longer
Overall, if you're a Resurgence Solos player who is bored of the meta primaries, give this a try. It's a fun alternative, and the limitations it has almost forces you to play an aggressive, push everything playstyle – so maybe it'll help you break your PR too!
