This was a weird and interesting read. Dystopian capitalist future where a marine biologist is investigating a colony of octopuses that might have developed human-level sentience. It has a lot of cyberpunk elements, such as AI-powered virtual companions, sentient fishing vessels that kidnap humans to work abord them, robot monks, and a rigger-style drone operator who can fuse with machine consciousness.
I was impressed by the intricacy of the story and the style of the writing. Hard to believe it was a debut novel. Anyway, thought I'd pass it on if others were interested.

i started it but didn’t finish. got pretty bored before it got interesting. to much mystery around the bigger picture
