Hello!

Recently upgraded from a 10700k to a 14900k and did the research after upgrading. (Price was too good at the time). Realized how out of touch I was on hardware.

After taking in a few guides on the new chip went to bios and did some tweaking based on the 13900k guides at the time and was also swapping between different closed loop coolers trying to decide if I wanted to upgrade to a Lian Li LCD II or keep my z73 kraken.

Tweaks made in Bios on first benchmarks:

CPU Genie – Remained off. Cooler Profile – Water Cooler (4096W) (MSI Board). E-Cores – Disabled. Turbo Core Enhancement – Off.

Booted up, had the Lian Li cooler hooked up and was gathering my temps from that. Mistake but ignored it and went about using it, didn't have any problem. Noticed stuttering a few days later and went back to more research. Also swapped out coolers back to my Z73 kraken when I got the new bracket. Lian Li was a good cooler but the hub software is just horrible.

This is the time I installed HWInfo and actually looked at correct temps and noticed my cpu pulling heavy power and 95 degrees on cs2.

Did more research. Flashed bios with a new update. Installed intel framework updates and engine management. started from scratch on bios config after flash.

After the flash I decided to restore defaults and retune the CPU after finding updated and more current undervolt guides. After clearing CMOS as well.

Next tweak set in Bios:

CPU Genie – On. Cooler Profile – Tower Cooler (253 W). PL1 & 2 – 253 W, TJMax – 100. ICMX – 307A. Turbo Core Enhancement – On. E-Cores – Active. Virtualization – Off. Voltage Offset – (-).020. Clock Frequencies – Stock. XMP – Off. (4 sticks ddr5)

Booted up perfectly fine with new tune. Temps are idling at 25-30. Cinebench r23 scoring around 38-40k. Temps under load were at 86 and holding. Clocks were identical across uniform cores. P-core = 5.686 mhz. E-Core = 4.489 mhz. She was perfect.

Now after booting up 3 days ago I noticed that E-core 8-11 are clocked at 3.192 mhz whereas the remaining e-cores are still chilling at 4.489 mhz. There wasn't any performance drop. But I did upgrade to Windows 11 around this time. Ignored it as it wasn't a problem and forgot about it.

Now today I noticed when I opened HWinfo again that now more E-cores are following suite. E-cores 8-11 are still the same and now 20-23 joined them in the snooze. I still haven't noticed any performance drop in my daily tasks and work load. So this is more of a curiosity thing but man is it killing me whenever I look over and not seeing it uniform.

Is there a solution to this? Reason for the behavior? And is there another underlying issue that is causing this.
