Never in a million year did I expect them to take a couple of poor selling NDS and Wii games and completely remake them for the Switch. It has been almost twenty years!

Fire Emblem. It wasn’t completely neglected, but it was definitely in a downfall during the DS era which had two half-hearted remakes of older games, one of which was only released in Japan.
Then Awakening came along for the 3DS. It was meant to be the last entry in the franchise, but it was such a big success that it was actually hard to find in stock for a few weeks. That game has more or less solidified the franchise into a Nintendo staple with both the 3DS and Switch getting multiple entries.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that the first two Suikoden games are getting a remaster.

Ghost recon online / Ghost recon: Phantoms (shutdown 2016) has a small volunteer-group of game-devs trying to recreate it from nothing. It’s STILL coming along and may have an open beta this year… I’m kind of piqued because I spent about 4,000 hours on that game (and $600…. It was pay2win)
Oh the game title is shadows of soldiers. There’s a Facebook page and a patreon for now

I like gigantic but it has a few gripes that was fine for the time but a bit iffy now.
Minor things like ultrawide support, not a deal breaker but it was supported natively on UE3 but hey its not major
Major things like no real AA options and a 60 FPS lock make the game feel less fluid then it could be, like it’s not a difficult to run game. Could be because if servers for the FPS lock but still makes it feel a bit restrictive nowadays.
