I've come across a gaming PC at a local pawn shop for $2,000, and I'm considering whether it's a worthwhile purchase.
I managed to get some snapshots of the system's specs, and I'm looking for your thoughts!

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core
BaseBoard: ASRock X570 Taichi
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
RAM: 64.0 GB DDR6
Storage: I didn't capture this, but I think it's like a 1TB SSD
PSU: Not sure, but it looks pretty powerful
What are your thoughts on this setup for gaming and high-performance tasks?
Do you think it's worth the risk to purchase this? Is it a good deal?

Hell nah, for gaming that is a terrible deal. Some workstation tasks could benefit from the high CPU core count, RAM and the RTX 3090 but personally I don’t think it’s worth $2000 used.

Used that would be decent for around $1100. And you’d still want to sell and upgrade some of the parts. The 3090 is $600+ of the price alone.
Throw him a cowbell offer of like 800, stating that it’s a few generations behind, unknown usage, and obviously second hand. Thirsty stores like to haggle, if you get it for under 1500 seems legit
Prolifetip: You will *never* find a good deal at a pawn shop. They underpay when buying things and overcharge when selling things, it’s literally their entire shtick. Pawn shops are there for money laundering and absolutely desperate motherfuckers trying to sell a stolen $1000 item for $150 because they need crack money.

DDR6 RAM is not a thing, you might be thinking of GDDR6, which is a type of video memory found on a graphics card. This build specifically would have 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM on the graphics card, and 64GB of DDR4 RAM.
While a pretty impressive last-gen system, RTX 3090 builds nowadays sell closer to $1700ish

Also, regardless of what you decide. Don’t ever consider using a pre-installed OS on a second hand device. Format that and install a fresh OS. The windows install should not be accounted for in the price.

Those are gskill royal ddr4 ram. Crazy expensive when they came out crazy expensive still just for aesthetic purposes. Notorious for not being compatible with each other so buying 2 sets of 2 didn’t mean u can get a set of 4 to work together so they charged hella premium for full sets. Those ram could probably fetch me a new 14900k. The price is there but there is no market/value for this.

You can build a PC with a 4070 Ti Super or 79000xtx, 1tb nvme hard drive, a 850 watt psu, 32gb ddr5 ram, a current gen cpu and motherboard for that price.
If you add the convenience factor, is bad but, not that bad.
My new system’s a 7900x and 7900xt for more than $250 less and 1TB more SSD, and there are other prebuilts at that price point with more powerful specs, not worth it imo
Pawn shops are a rip off and take advantage of people that don’t know any better.
Worth at 1000-1200$. Too high at that price. When haggling, lowball at 700-800$. When they say laugh and say no, be like alright fair, that’s what it will go for next year when it’s 3-4 generations old. Right now it’s 1-2 generations old, used, with no warranty so 1,000. They’ll say no, 1,500. Then your turn to laugh. “Good luck with that. I can buy a brand new warrantied system for better specs at that. Im here cause I only have 1,200. final offer.” Hold firm, and be ready to walk out. That’s the real price and if they’re good they know it.
