I have something like this to test some things but I don’t think it’s worth it unless you have other parts around-ddr3 and 4790.

4th Gen CPUs that fit in the socket are still somewhat relevant today, put a $20 Xeon e3 1240v3 (i7 4770) and GTX 1660 and you’ve got yourself a decent gaming PC, I usually build and flip those for $100 profit, or gift it to someone

I’ll take it. I have a 4790k
Merciless_Hobo
Slap a 4790k or 4770 and cheap GPU in there and have a dedicated Plex machine.

Sell it back on ebay

Do with it whatever you want?
It’s yours now. Use it as decoration, build an oldschool PC and go nuts on overclocking if possible, throw it out the window, marry it, gift it to someone else. Well, do whatever you want.

I’ve notice someone eBay selling one of thse forever, and I think it is still for sale. With that said, that is what I use for my desktop that I built in 2015. Still fast today with an i7-4790, and 960gtx. It will peak at 60fps on 165hz of Tomb Rader settings on the highest. Just not bleeding edge anymore, and wasn’t when I bought it. BUT, parts for it would be cheap by now. Video cards are cheaper now too.

I had an old P67 and i7-2600K so I bought 4 GTX Titans ($300 for all 4) and made an OG SLI rig. Its surprisingly really good on 1080P AAA games at Medium settings and 1080P E-sports games at 160fps+ performance settings

Put a haswell CPU in it and frame it. z97 was a great platform.

Give it to me 😏

build it for living room tv

Go back to ebay, find a CPU, buy some drives. BOOM NAS.

I just sold a z97 on eBay this better not be mine!
Marco-YES
Bit of tweaking turns it into a killer XP gaming PC. GTX 750 Ti or GTX 960 etc… are great cards for that.

I still use a z97. Everything works fine.

4790K in there and some RAM and you are golden. Or sell it on FB marketplace. I sold mine just last year and the guy was happy to have it! 4790k single core benchmarks are still competitive today!

Hang it on the wall.
LGA 1150 CPUs are not that expensive anymore.
