System specs :
Intel Core™ i9-14900K
ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero
ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 OC
G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 48GB (2 x 24GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 8000 (PC5 64000)
I don’t know really anything about overclocking and voltage and what not but I am getting knowere as I should on my ram. And that is what I would like help on to get it running top notch.
So my issue is as follows.
Obviously I found out the dark hero cannot and will not run ddr5-8000. Which they say it can but it cannot.
I was watching some videos and people have said that the MAX they can get is 7466hz on a stress test of 24hr and longer and no issues. But 1hz more it will crash, like 7467hz it crashes right away for people. And for me I have no idea on how to do that and voltages.

That is the video I was watching when I found all this out and is exactly what my issue is on the exact same system as in that video.
So that is what I am trying to fix.
Anytime I turn XMP on it either bsod or freezes.
So in the bios I change it to either ddr5-7200 or 7000 or 6400 with XMP on I get into windows. I launch the stress test and it freezes in 1 second on any of those hz. But if I do ddr5-5700 without XMP on. I have no issues and my computer runs no problem on the stress test. But I am getting knowere i should be with how good my system is.
So if anyone could help me and guide me through getting my ram running on how it should would be just amazing.

If you could return the kit and get a slower one that will work via XMP, that would be the easiest way to go. 7200+ is, IMO, manual tuning territory.
Otherwise, you’ll need to test and manually tune your ram until stable. What you achieve will come down to silicon lottery – mostly how good the IMC in your CPU is.
Important voltages to tune –
VDDQ TX, IMC VDD (also called CPU VDD2 on other brand boards) and CPU SA voltage. These voltages will have sweet spots, higher will not always necessarily be better.
For trying to hit speeds that high, I would recommend starting at 1.4v VDDQ TX, 1.4 IMC VDD and 1.2v CPU SA. You’ll need to tune each voltage, it can be very tedious.
For testing I like Y-cruncher VT3 for testing frequency, it should help you figure out what your IMC can handle frequency wise. Otherwise, Karhu and TM5 Absolut are good for testing timings. OCCT Large data and prime95 are great for total system stability checking too.
Manually set a lower System Agent voltage to 1.2v or 1.25v and it should no longer hard freeze. Running 7200 MT/s with that setup should be possible, with 6800 MT/s being a worst-case scenario.
