Couldn’t edit the previous post with an update so here’s an update.
I tried with Amazon UK to get a replacement card but due to the value and what they had in stock I got a refund sorted easily enough. I state Amazon UK as a lot of people were saying how bad Amazon were in the USA. I can honestly say hand on heart I’ve had one order go wrong in the time since 2004 that I’ve been using Amazon.
I read all your comments on the previous post and answered everyone’s DM’s trying to buy the card I had been given.
As most of you rightly pointed out it was a 2080ti that was sent out in the 4090 box. I went a bit further and pulled Th e foam from the box the card came in and found some felt tiles in the box obviously for weight. I’ll add some pictures of the card that came first.
I didn’t realise this at the time as I had just gotten home from a 3 week trip and just opened the box late at night and in a rage with the condition of what was in the box didn’t think anything of it and just posted a few photos here.
Certainly an eye opener and crazy to hear so many stories of Amazon stuff being damaged/missing etc.
I decided after doing some research to use scan computers to order the same card.
Happy to announce it arrived today, with proper packaging and an actual 4090 inside the box.
Now I have the great joy of adding this beast to my pc and enjoying it for a few days before heading away for another 2 week stint at work.
Thank you all for your comments. They certainly kept me amused and I’m also in awe at the knowledge in this subreddit.

Great to hear you got it sorted out!
Nice happy ending there. Excellent card, would recommend using the included support bracket because this thing is heavy as hell.
Must have been a canon event

Good to hear you got it all solved.
Happy gaming and have a safe trip.🫡
The felt tiles really added that much extra weight? Surely less than an ounce, total?
Scams with expense tech have become very common on Amazon, buying stuff from a random online store if probably more reliable than Amazon these days
Did they want the 2080 back?
I always get downvoted when i say this but: Don’t fucking buy on Amazon!
I’m curious, did you have to send the 2080ti back?
Did they let you keep the 2080 ti? Wonder if it still works
Scan is my go to website. Bought my gaming laptop off there about 8 years ago and bought most of the components for my daughter’s system off there too
Got my 4070 Super from there too just last week and very happy with it
You traded in a 2080 ti to get a 4090. Well done!
