Do you prefer The Killing Moon or Somewhat Damaged as the conclusion to phantom liberty, storytelling wise?

  1. SPOILER!!

I really prefer Somewhat Danage, I went the killing moon the 1st time cuz I didn’t liked reed attitude so fuck hin right? WRONG finding out after all of the hard work to recover the Neuronal matrix to find out at the very end that I’ve been lied to the whole time and she had no intention to help me and it all just was a big improvise for her blackwall plan

So after feeling betrayed, didn’t thought twice and hit her with ICE only to start my Terminator nightmare
Gave me chills in so many levels so I got to prefer this one

I think I prefer killing moon, from a story telling standpoint. Yes So Mi lied, but Myers sucks, I didn’t really like Reed’s attitude, and killing the twins was also a big deciding factor. Another thing that controlled my decision was So Mi’s condition at the end of the mission, I was fairly certain that she wouldn’t survive the trip to the moon so I thought, fuck it, I’m a man of my word. Of course now I know that she likely is alive. She wasjust trying to survive, same as V, yea lying was a bitch move but I can’t entirely fault her for it. How many people does V kill on their mission to save their own life? How does Alex feel after being betrayed by a person she opened up to so they could save their own life? How are any other people we encounter less important? But that’s just how I feel, I still understand the people who turn her in after finding out she lied, and I understand the people who choose to side with Reed.

Somewhat Damaged with fulfilling her final request. It is a great ending to a tragic villain storyline.

What an insane place cybocure was, I really don’t like betraying Somi but I would he lying if I didn’t say that the ending where you betray her has the best visuals and rewards

  5. ISSAvenger

I prefer Killing Moon all the way.

Sure, lying wasn’t nice, but at least somewhat understandable in her position. She had suffered a lot all these years since she was forcefully recruited. Probably forgot the meaning of trust.

Anyways, she came clean in the end. She could have easily proceeded with leaving V in the dark, never to be seen again. I think at the end she was giving herself over to trust V fully by opening up like this (and also opening herself up to the off chance that V will either give her up or even kill her because of that). I wouldn’t say that that final act redeemed her, but it was one big step in the right direction for her. Also, who is to say that she won’t somehow try and pay V‘s kindness back after apparently being successfully treated on Tycho?

The only real answer is to side with Songbird. Sure she lies to you, but I can’t blame her for that. She’s desperate and that was her only way out. That doesn’t change the fact that the NUSA is the enemy, and siding with them is as bad as siding with the corporations. You’re no better than Smasher. A corpo dog that gets reduced to a no body that gets beat up by a couple of street thugs, and that’s the life you deserve. No respect, no money, just a bunch of empty promises and ashes in your mouth.

    >storytelling wise

Storytelling wise, I think both of them should be experienced at some point, in order to bring proper closure to the Phantom Liberty storyline.

Anyway, I used to prefer somewhat damaged at first. Though now, I enjoy the killing moon equally as much.

Maybe even a tiny bit more than somewhat damaged, especially after finding out some new details regarding Myers and the rogue ai’s.

In general, Reed’s path may feel more fleshed out when compared to So Mi’s path, due to CDPR cutting out some stuff from the killing moon.

Such as Song’s memory sequences, which would shed more light on certain events during the ride to the launchpad.

Or V’s ability not to kill Reed, during their standoff. Which would lead to Reed willingly allowing both V and Songbird to escape.

Let’s just say the original killing moon had a bit more stuff going on than its current iteration. The version we have today is still great nonetheless.

  8. SuperArppis

Killing Moon has minimal forced stealth, so I guess that.

  9. biochamberr

I love Somewhat Damaged! Better fights, erberus reward, plus it’s longer? At least it seems longer. Mowing down folks with erberus in my car is fun af

  10. InDubioProLibertatem

Somewhat Damaged and killing Songbird is the only one that makes sense for me personally.

Not giving the Rogue AIs a shitton of resources while at the same time sticking it to the NUSA and accommodating Songbird as much as possible.

  11. Vicious00

For those who chose to send Songbird to the moon, you sure have a lot of trust in Mr. Blue Eyes.

  12. GargoyleDX

“The Killing Moon”, always. “Somewhat Damaged” feels like you move everything back to square one, but everything is worse and everyone loose (except Mayers if you give her So Mi – but fuck that!”)

  13. stomcode

Somewhat Damaged gang here. I feel like I get to know all the main characters (Reed, Myers, and of course, So Mi) better.

Why they are who they are. Why Reed feels responsible for So Mi. Why Myers is a bigger bitch than we thought she was.

Not to mention the fact that I really love the horror atmosphere of the whole thing.

Oh and you also get to fight MaxTac.

  14. Default_Munchkin

I didn’t want to do what I did to Reed (actually died because I thought i could talk him down and he shot me) but Song told us the truth, she was fighting for every scrap of a chance to survive. She was our mirror and had a chance to live and I wasn’t going to take that from her. Maybe she was pulling one last manipulative effort but in the end it wasn’t necessary. I’d have rescued and saved her if she had been honest from the start.

  15. xXLoneLoboXx

I prefer the Betray Songbird & Turn Her In route. My personal feelings for Songbird aside (she’s a horrible person btw, but I ain’t getting into that right now.), The ending where V gets cured and loses his chrome is probably the ending that is best set up for V to make another appearance in the next game.

Maybe V shows up as a fixer who gets killed halfway through the story and that gives us personal drive to kill the new villain. Or maybe V will be the next protagonist too and that one theory is true where Mayers intentionally disabled V’s chrome just to keep ‘em as a sort of sleeper agent she can reactivate at any time she needs it.

    Killing Moon: more fun

    Somewhat Damaged: better story

  17. fuck songbird I hate that dumb bitch bros before hoes

  18. THEGAP_Of_Wall8888

I’m not helping manipulative b**ch again, i’ll helping reed or kill both

  19. Correct_Dig4244

Killing moon feels better, but Canto is Canto

  20. Dveralazo

Somewhat Damaged, killing her at the end

We probably delay a counle of years the Blackwall apocalypse

    Myers doesn’t get her alive.

Songbird pays for what she did to us

Reed is freed, although he doesn’t deserve it

  21. Pete_Peterson

I like both gameplay-wise. Somewhat Damaged was a bit tedious during bunker segment but got to see the memories. But as the conclusion to the story it’s The Killing Moon. Set Bird free and we avenged Johnny a little too, him being a Militec toy in his early years.

V fucking with Militec and Arasaka, that’s what it’s called being a legend. Tower ending is for people who are ready to lay down and wait to die in their own piss (That’s what Johnny would say).

We die like Johnny, on fire and gun in hand.

Seriously though, any ending is valid, I’m not saying people who like this or that ending are wrong. The endings serve to flesh out the narrative which is something I don’t see in movies and a reminder why I got into video games.

  22. HopelessGretel

I don’t think people understand that Songbird is the main villain of the DLC and not Myers. She hoard information (even from Myers), she turned Reed, she turned you, she turned Hansen, she created this whole situation, Reed warned you that she had a poor sense of consequences, when you confront her she didn’t even acknowledge what she done.

  23. Kami_Slayer2

I think siding with reed is much better gameplay wise Hansen boss fight. Maxtac ambush and cerberus.

But i prefer helping so mi. Yeaaaahhh she manipulated us BUT she came clean at the end and gave us a choice. That makes me sympathize with her more, she felt so freaking guilty about using us that she told us the truth right at the finish line.

  24. austincdx

nah she rlly screwed us over with that lie when i actually trusted her, so i did what SHE did, handed her over after she broke my trust.

  25. Bathroom_Junior

I was on Songbirds side, especially after Reed straight up Merced two people completely unconnected to the mission. Sure they weren’t innocent, but they didn’t deserve death. Then Songbird mentioned not caring about killing thousands of people to escape and that changed my mind real fast.
