I’ll never shit on anyone who already spent their money and is happy with their new PC.
But if someone is considering a prebuilt and asking for advice I will certainly try to steer them towards a custom build that will be much better, especially if they’re considering something particularly terrible like alienware.

sometimes there are some considerable deals to fish for and that’s super fine if someone get that
but:
1. not sure why bringing it here **after** buying it
2. someone have to make money on it (usually its more than assembling fee) so more times than not they are **not** “best” (or even good) deals
3. you have no control and usually no information about PSU, MB, Cooling, RAM`s, brand`s & Quality, but they usually have nice lights all over it (the compromises are not where they should be) 🙂

The only issue I ever had with prebuilts is that the parts people don’t care about were often cheap trash. Mainboard, PSU, RAM, CPU Cooler…though I feel that has gotten a lot better recently.

People often just say to build it yourself next time, which is more than valid.
yeah, you save like 3-4H (if you’re a first time builder) with a prebuild and don’t have the hastle, but you also lack the experience to make any fixes or upgrades yourself later on.
So as soon as warranty runs out, and something does break, you’ll either have to learn it anyway blowing an hour or two of the first time save into the wind, or bring it into a PC repair shop, where you will end up paying 50-100$ service charge alone depending on what was the issue.
Which for many people is 4-8 Work hours, a prebuild is fine, as long as you know what you’re doing, but if you own a PC, basic maintenance and repairs should be something you know about

What a fucking scam for what is marketed as a gaming computer. You could get twice the performance for a similar price. Of course we’re not okay with it and have to inform people about it !

Do what you want with your money just dont come on the internet asking strangers how you did for the price because people will be honest…. Simple solution, dont make a reddit post saying you spent $1200 on a prebuilt intel i7 3770k, 16gb ddr3 1600, rtx 3050.
A mate was looking a for a prebuilt for his sister and for about £1k they were i7 2600k, 16gb ddr3 1600, gtx 1660/ rtx3050 256gb ssd with a 1tb hdd.
For £860 i bult my brother a 5600x, rtx3060, 16gb 3200, case, mouse, keyboard, os, wifi card, 1tb ssd.

My first gaming PC was a laptop, then my 2nd one was a pre-built.
Now I’ve rebuilt my PC roughly 2 times, it is a Ship of Theseus almost twice over, I’ve helped build my roommate 2 PCs, I’ve helped other friends build PCs, and I manage Frankie which is a collection of PC compotents my friend group all adds to when upgrading a PC compotent and doesn’t see the value in reselling. We use Frankie to mess around with Linux as well as troubleshooting our own PCs with extra compotents that we know work.
What I’m saying is, I now live and breathe PC. I love building, I love tinkering and benchmarking, and I started with a shitty laptop. Not everyone is going to do all the research to build one for their first time, the best thing we can do is be welcoming of people who are taking the leap and switching to PCs for gaming or whatever their hobby is. We should give people solid advice when they ask questions and not bombard them with “bad value” or “you wasted your money” when they’re just excited to show they’ve joined the PC community.
Also, believe me, anyone with a pre-built in this subreddit will find out quickly that building PCs is the way to go. Let’s just welcome these people and help them instead of being aggressive and annoying.
Lol I went on a mini rant there, sorry about that. Okay back to gaming.

For newbies I always recommend a good value pre built that you upgrade later. I got a pre built in 2018 or 19 with a 2070 super and upgraded part by part as I learned more. If you already come to this subreddit though you can get feedback from the community and buy part by part as sales comes up and build something better for the money.
