Ok, so call me a newbie all you want. But after 5+ years of playing I still don’t know what exactly AG and UC in the upper right is used for. I have a basic understanding that it’s for “buying” stuff. But I’ve never used it except for pants maybe. I’ve never paid any real money for points. I don’t care for skins or anything, so not sure what I’d ever use this stuff for.

UC is what you buy with your real $. It’s the only way to get UC (except for some they hand out as rebates, but you still need to buy some UC first to get it). Most of the good stuff in the game requires some amount of UC.
**Everything** else is a distraction meant to confuse you. There’s probably something in the shop you can exchange things for if you look around. There’s many different currencies, designed to make you spend time trying to obtain it. Try not to get sucked in.
