To be clear his PC ran like dog shit before I set it up right. No idea why it did but his shit just wasn’t as plug and play as it has been in my experience when setting up most PCs for gaming. My score is the one at 20k and his is slightly lower at around 18k
I’m running:
• 6200mhz ddr5 Klevv V Bolt 32cl 32gb of ram
• RX 7800XT PowerColor Hellhound with an OC/UV and a basically stock 7800X3D
He’s running:
• vengeance 32Gb 3600mhz Ram
• 5900x All core OC 4.75 GHz stable -30 curve optimizer PBO disabled; RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra EVGA OC to 2200Mhz
Initially his 3d mark scores were horrible, then at best average. After dialing in his GPU and applying the static OC to his CPU, he scores much higher than he was and his games run at a smooth, high FPS at 1440P pretty much on Par with my system. Obviously an full blown ddr5/am5 setup with his card would be ideal but this just goes to show that even “midrange” AMD GPUs can provide the performance necesarry for a build to outperform another that has a much more expensive GPU that isn’t all that much older….
Needless to say however he’s much happier with the stability and performance his system is now putting out…. I felt bad seeing him main a 1080p monitor with his build and had to figure out what the issue was. If anyone has any idea how I could boost his score higher pls lmk.
