Dark Souls III can look so amazing on PC even in 2024 ( 4K mods for environment, weapons and armor and increased LOD )

“This fairly new game looks amazing with all these mods that make it look better”

    I used these mods :

The game can use with these mods about 11Gb of vram and loading increases considerably because it needs to load all these textures however on NVME Gen 4 it is pretty fast tho !

Edit : the mods used preserve game OG look they just upscale everything to 4K via AI so it looks glorious as it does !

Can’t believe this game is nearly a decade old

Proper artistic direction is timeless, and these mods just let it shine.

Graphics haven’t really got much better since 2014 imo, they’re obviously better now but it’s much less obvious than like games compared to 2008

  6. Art design was top notch too. Helps a lot to have the game “look good”.

How is this not an r/shittydarksouls post

Mods can overhaul anything in the right hands. Playing Daggerfall Unity with mods right now and it’s gorgeous.

Art Design > Graphical fidelity, sometimes to make games look as real as possible they lose some of the style and charm of the game & the world and ends up looking boring

You know, I think this is a fundamental difference between how I experience games, and how most people do. I literally cannot tell the difference between this and my recent playthrough of unmodded DS3. Like, the graphics are probably marginally better, but I would only be able to tell in a side by side comparison. It’s just not something my brain is naturally tuned to, and it’s not something I want to train it to detect either. I love being able to enjoy older games without having to mod them.

People complain about the color palette be to grey. But not only does it makes sense lore wise. It gives off that cold atmosphere.

The art direction is great but some of the textures were really bad even for its time, kinda broke the immersion for me at some points

Is this “amazing” in the room with us right now?
I am sorry but this looks like slightly better basegame Skyrim graphics.

  14. On top of your mods I use these to make it even better

then add reshade, shaders i use is HDR, prod80filmicadaptation, CAS, and vibrance (all default values)
Reshade gets rid of this dusty stale grey boring color palette, trust me

Now my DS3 looks almost as good as Elden Ring

This is how you sum up any Souls: Damn if i look really close it looks like shit but if i step back it takes the breath away.

This is what most companies will never understand. It’s not the number of polygons it’s how you use them

I just love the aesthetic every time I boot it up!
