The wifes builds is a 5800x and 3080 with 3440×1440 gigabyte ips monitor. Mine is whatever parts I have laying around that aren't currently for sale in a build.

Got a bunch of these monitor arms but none of my "spare" monitors are heavy enough even with the tension at the lowest setting. Is this more, or less janky than a pile of books? Lol

Yes, very messy. Just tested a bunch of mb's I picked up.

There should be a tension screw I think you can adjust ?

  2. There is a special force (tension) adjuster, I don’t know what it’s called correctly. Usually it looks like a bolt, by adjusting which you can adjust the bracket to the weight of the monitor

There’s most likely a nut on the arm that lowers or heightens the tension in the mechanism. At least that’s how it works on mine. Look in the manual, but the most likely location is on top of the arm, close to the “elbow”.

Also, you can’t take the standard stand off your monitor? It looks awful, tbh.

I know you already written right there on the post but have you tried adjusting the tension screw? Usually is a bolt or a nut. /s

Adjust the gas spring in the arm. Should be a screw in the joint.

I lashed a 3lbs dumbbell to the arm where it connects to the screen to weight mine down. It annoys the hell out of me that monitor arms are advertised with numbers like “up to 44kg!” like what if my monitor weighs like 2kg? Get fucked apparently is the answer. I get that 16 inches is not a common size to want to mount but my 23″ monitor is just BARELY heavy enough and can easily snap up to the top position if i push it up too hard.

Many of these arms tension screws are counter intuitive and you lower the resistance by adjusting it clockwise. Most of mine are that way and look like what you have

Adjust the allen head tension screw, you need to back it off about 50 turns

  11. Increase the resolution – this weighs heavy on the gfx card so it might also work for the arm /s
