Yeah, this is true for the most part, but there are tons of little nuances that do require some deeper understanding. ie:
-arranging fans for proper airflow
-knowing to check which RAM slots to populate first
-cable management
-knowing how to apply thermal paste properly

It really is just that simple. Nothing about installing parts is hard, they all have a place and they are held in by design. The cables are another story. Out of sight, out of mind.

Anyone who been building since the 486 & Pentium era probably feels this way about modern PCs. They’re Legos compared to having to set your CPU speed & type with a non-standardized cluster of jumper pins, and then wrestling DMA & IRQ conflicts when hardware from different manufacturers don’t wanna play nice with each other.
No established websites to pull info or drivers back then. Just had to call support and hope for some luck. Luckily I lived near a technical college as a kid, and took my PC there, offering a free pizza for a fix. An instructor/professor had his class use my Pentium 166 as a lesson on how to post boot and get sound working properly in both Win95 and DOS. Thanks again Georgia Tech lol
