3 hours into the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and user reviews are sitting at a 38% citing horrible performance and microtransaction hell including: intentional lack of features to encourage buying microtransactions.
3 hours into the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and user reviews are sitting at a 38% citing horrible performance and microtransaction hell including: intentional lack of features to encourage buying microtransactions.
And this game is getting 8s and 9s on Metacritic ? 🤔
What’s going on ? Did performance not count for their reviews ?
FYMMMMMM
Seems like almost every week there’s a new game release that manages to piss everyone off nowadays
kchunpong
What kind of micro transactions they are offering?
leadtortoise1
There’s over $40 worth of microtransactions on steam on DAY FUCKING ONE!!!!
what the fuck?!?!?! Fuck Capcom
Important-Ebb-1466
That’s crazy I read the ign and pcgamer reviews and don’t remember seeing a mention of mtx. Seems like they pulled a fast one lol
n3u7r1n0
The “generate a decent looking world in a decent engine and profit through microtransaction” meta needs to die. Stop preordering games. Stop buying anything in any game until you understand the end game loop without. Discipline brothers, we can overcome. The gaming industry began, grew, and thrived before this hellish cycle did. We can go back.
Rod_MLCP
that’s why you DO NOT pre order folks
Altekho
MT+$70 price tag, such an awful combo.
But that horrible performance issue, that must be the real dealbreaker for the most part.
awaiting_the_end
Well, this is amusing. The self-sabotage is incredible for this game.
Sitherio
Everyone kept praising that CC but then it releases and jesus, they couldn’t even delay the microtransactions for a week for a slimy “stealth MTX update” to get past the first reviews. They just shit the bed and said “Ta-dah! Don’t you want to buy it?”
Caaros
Man, looking at this makes me really worried for Monster Hunter Wilds.
DenzelVilliers
Wait, there’s Microtransactions for Dragon’s Dogma 2? 🤡
PointsOfXP
This game could have been something
tropical_dog
I just read that you cannot start a new game once you create your character. Leaving many stuck with goofy looking characters because they just wanted to test game performance.
aradraugfea
So, regarding the performance thing, and this isn’t meant to target anyone, but… what do the minimum requirements say? Those are still a thing right?
Does the game run acceptably on a system that meets the listed minimum requirements? Not well, not good, but ‘will run and isn’t a fucking slideshow’
If not? Okay, yeah, grab the tar and feathers.
Leotargaryen
Oooh wow, I hadnt heard a thing about mtx in it at all til now. Welp there goes the game of the year talk lol
nikolaj-11
Seems like we’re getting to a stage where any reviews coming out before a game’s release just has to be dismissed wholehandedly, what with mtx’s randomly appearing only after release.
korkidog
Didn’t realize it had microtransactions. Won’t be buying that game as I’d planned. I’m enjoying Outcast and will take my time through it.
AndrewWhite97
One of the reviews said there was an MTX for changing what your character looks like. Capcom fucked up badly with that.
XevinsOfCheese
All of these MCX are things you can acquire easily in game.
Microtransaction hell this is not.
All this means is that some people will be skipping the challenge for themselves, their loss.
Fish_Smell_Bad
I’m pretty sure they’re selling a revive consumable for $1 in a single player game…
EfficiencyOk9060
I don’t care about the microtransactions lots of people cry about that in games, but the truth of the matter is the majority of people don’t care. What I care about is the performance and this game has an unacceptable level of performance for a $70 AAA game.
Renolber
Another prestigious title bites the dust
Oh well, back to Helldivers
RustyNK
I remember how hyped everyone was for this game like 2 months ago.
ExcelIsSuck
actually insane. Somone was blinded by short term greed and completely ruined the game. The game will sell so much fewer copies now, the ceo will wonder why, not be able to figure out its their fault then fire the entire dev team whilst pocketing the spare fucking change they got from this sham
This industry is ruined. Run by those who have no passion for games and only see it for money, dragons dogma 2 is permanently ruined because of this horseshit and for what? THe devs arent even gunna fucking see this an extra penny of the money made from this dlc, it would have just gone in the backpocket of some guy who didnt even write a single line of code for the game. Disgusting leaches who serve no purpose other than to drain the life from whatever they touch
DFuel
Shouldn’t this information be released to the public before the game releases? Thats like buying a car and then Realizing that the wheels weren’t ever part of the deal…
BikingVikingNick
They made the mistake of offering the micro transactions day 1. Gotta let the initial positive reviews get out there; then phase the monetization in over a few weeks. Apparently only some of the big publishers have figured this out.
reddit1sSh1t
I wanted to play it, and I still will. Palworld, last epoch and helldivers all taught me to not trust a single thing about steam reviews. Especially on release.
iphaded
Feels good every time I think about buying a brand new game and then thinking nahhh, I’ll wait for reviews and a heavy discount 5 years from now.
yoshisama
Princess Peach Showtime > Dragon’s Dogma 2
MordredLovah
This is why I always wait for reviews, patch updates and performance mods if possible.
No_Solid_3737
Wait, you have to pay 80 bucks for this game and also buy micro-transactions? Diablo 4 is not a guide on how to make games!!!
ShrubbyFire1729
Ah yes, what a fine day to be sailin’ the seven seas! Or, you know, once it gets cracked anyway.

What the Fuck.
Noxeramas
Game is insanely fun, performance is a big issue, micro transactions provide nothing to the gameplay.
Biggest issue is no multi characters but this is solved by saving your win64 folder elsewhere and deleting it when the game is on the main menu, attempting to load last save will fail then the startgame button will reappear
nospamkhanman
OMG they MTed fast travel?
I remember seeing a video of the director explaining they didn’t want to do fast travel because it breaks immersion.
Looks like he was a lying fuck.
BrahnBrahl
Stop pre-ordering games, and stop buying games day one unless it’s a sure thing that the game is actually in a quality state and/or isn’t anti-consumer.
The only way to stop these corrupt practices is to vote with our wallets.
aarplain
There’s microtransactions? I haven’t heard about that one time leading up to release. Wtf?
MordredLovah
Paying to change your character look is just a minor problem, this is present in Monster Hunter games and no one is complaining.
The major problem is that you can’t delete your character and you only have one save data. In MonHun games you could just delete that character to create a new one and you have 3+ save slots for it.
mrpoopsocks
There’s microtransactions? And I’ve not had any performance issues, installed, restarted my computer, started stabbing monsters. I am confuse.
DreadLockhart
I’ve heard you can obtain all the items by playing the game rather than spending money. Just dont spend money, its optional and not pay to win.
Helldivers 2 does this as well and that game is universally praised. Why is Dragons Dogma 2 getting hate for this?
piscian19
So you’re saying its a Capcom title?
zero_f7
They sell item to revive your character as microtransaction? Like what’s next?! Sell healing item with real money too??
Notalurkeripromise
Meanwhile I spent $20 on Hades and I literally will never see all of the character dialogues and I’m already like 100+ hours deep
xoxomonstergirl
The fact the paid item to change appearance is a single use item completely turned me off from the game entirely, this shit has got to end. It’s single player!!
MajikoiA3When
Micro transactions in single player games is a cancerous trend that needs to die.
