Most family today doesnt have a game console be it xbox or PS because of their price and the price of the games, i got a PS2 from my dad’s workplace and the games are like 50c a piece (i live in 3rd world country and the games are pirated PS2 games) but most if not all family today has a phone and/or tablet because of their parents and they just let their kids play on games on it so they didnt have any reason to buy a game console, why spent $400+ on a game console and $20-60 game when you can just let your kids play free games on your work tablets?

Might be stubborn me not letting go what feels good to me, but controller and even worse touch screen are vastly, vastly inferior to me for gaming. We know how controller can’t keep up with the freedom mnk offers so they cope with aim assist and games tailored for them (slower movement, health regen, ads mechanics to compensate recoil, etc). But know touchscreen, boy how fun is to have 30% of your screen covered with your control keys and having your fingers on them in an even worse ergonomic position than any other gaming device in the market.

As others have said it’s not surprising for lots of younger kids why would you bother buying your kid a console when an old phone keeps them entertained? Kids would only be introduced to console/PC gaming if they had a parent or older sibling that is into it.

Sorry, these generalizations are stupid. Sure, kids who have parents that aren’t at all interested in games don’t know what a controller is. But you couldn’t find one child who doesn’t immediately ask for the controller who has parents who actively play console or PC.

My kid was sitting at this PC, playing Roblox and talking to his friend on his phone using kid’s facetime (or something similar). He tells his friend, “I’m playing on my XBOX!” I look over and say, “What?” He looks at me and holds up the cheap logitech controller I bought him. He thought logitech controller = XBOX. I died a little.
Pirate software makes content that completely goes over my head because im stupid but also is the most interesting man alive and i could listen to him talk forever

It doesn’t really make me feel old.. It’s just the evolution of parenting and technology. We’ve all seen how dirt cheap touchscreens are now. They were getting cheap even 8 years ago. I’m sure a large amount of us grew up with PS1/Xbox controllers and no touchscreens..
