Hi! I just wanted to ask everyone's opinion about a coworker of mine getting a gaming PC from their friend's Dad for $200 CAD (~150 USD). He's new to PC gaming and mostly wanted to get into it for stuff like Lethal League and esports shooters. It's an Asus pre-built from 2017, specs are in second pic.
Honestly I think he'll have a really great time with it! Just looking for additional opinions, especially if anyone has experience with this same model of pre-built!
If anyone cares, he paired it with an LG ultra gear 24" 1080p 165hz monitor.

Seems reasonable for the price but I’m sure you’ll know the hardware is quite dated already. The main thing is they get some enjoyment out of it right? That’s what it’s all about in the end. Just playing games and having fun. Its a good starting point to see if they like pc gaming. If they decide they do and want more they’re gonna have to essentially overhaul the system to upgrade. That socket is a bit of a dead end for one. They will need a new mobo regardless if they want to move up to something newer Intel or AMD. The ram, storage, GPU and power supply can all carry over. So not all is lost. They should just use it for a bit and play some games see if they are satisfied with the performance more than likely I feel they’re quickly going to get that upgrade itch.
Should be fine for most e-sports titles on medium settings.

I play cyberpunk on ultra no problem, i only have project cars 2 as an e-sports game but it’s quite old, i play that on max with just a few things turned down.. But most e-sports games are less intensive than open-world games like cyberpunk.
I play kingdom come deliverance on ultra something (can’t remember what term they use) one below the highest.
basically you will be able to play most games that are 5 years old on pretty much the best settings, newer games you’ll have to tone it down a bit. I don’t think you’ll have any issue with e-sports games
I looked around for a while and mine was the best i could find for that price at the time so your friend got a pretty sweet deal i’d say.

Can you please locate where I said the system would struggle with e-sports titles? I’m afraid you’re illiterate. If OP’s coworker wants to use the full capabilities of their monitor (165Hz!), medium settings should be fine. CPU is 7 generations old, and some e-sports titles are more CPU dependent than anything. It is clear you have a small ego and need to be right in every situation judging from your comments and name calling. I hope you educate yourself and seek therapy.

Damn. That’s a steal. And you can always upgrade your parts too. That should definitely be able to run most big titles at 1080p no problem. My old 1060 (6gb) can still run star citizen. The 10 series were workhorse cards. I wish they still built them like they did.
Did you actually open it up to see if everything is in there? Or its just a case

I played my first 50 hours of Elden Ring on an old system with that same CPU and only a 1060. Good deal for a PC that will handle all but some notoriously demanding titles released in the past year and a half to two years. And should be fine with competitive FPS titles that can hit 60 or better at 1080p with the flashy/distracting visual effects dialed down.
Upgrade it by slapping in at least a 1tb SSD and it’s good to run most games at 1080p still , for the price it’s solid
I think it’s a steal of a deal, dated as they are I don’t think you could buy these parts separately for twice that money.
It will do fine, swapping the HDD out to a SSD would help a bit.
Awesome deal, I spent $600 CAD last year for an r9 390 build with an i3 7100 plus monitor and peripherals so this is great value
