as a kid i never made it past this, and it was hard enough to find the notes to unlock.
I think I beat it as an adult after a lot of frustration.
This is similar to how i felt about the Wizpig race in Diddy Kong.

Kids these days aren’t wrong about that

It took a lot of tries. Especially if english isnt your first language. But even as a kid, my brother and i went for the jokers to skip the death questions
SpreadableGinseng
I finished this when I was 8. But I used to always take notes on video games as a kid, I don’t bother now because of the internet.
I’m not sure I would have finished elden ring when I was 8

I remember more or less brute forcing it as a kid… grinded it over and over until i memorized enough questions to somehow beat it. My english as an 8yo wasnt exactly good enough to understand most questions
Independent_Edge5671
Yeah i remember sitting there and trying over and over again.
I had my big brother translating abit since my english was soso.
But eventually i made it

The whole concept of difficulty in games these days is fucked. You gotta dig to find truly difficult games in a respective genre excluding maybe Doom.

Definitely took notes from the nice witch you would find hidden throughout the overworld, but even then, it was still tough.

WELCOM to hell

I finished the game again last year and I have no fucking idea how I did it as a kid without the power ups for the last fight. First time I did 100% on the game

No way in hell BK is harder than Elden Ring. Sorry. Not even the final boss which I’ll admit is very hard. The quiz show is really not that bad

Side topic: Although the levels in Yooka Laylee were too large and a bit barren, it was the quizzes that sunk the game. Remove the quizzes and I’d replay the game.

I always had a lot of trouble with the Grunty fight too.

Not me.

There was this one shaman and he turned me into a washing machine. None of my friends believed me.
Over a decade later I saw it happening on Youtube.

I guess Grunty couldn’t just say “Welcome to Hell” in a kid’s game.
OneWholeSoul
Why didn’t they let you replay this?
DareToBeDick
If you think any Banjo game is comparable in difficulty to any souls games, you are bad at games.

Pssshhhhhh try silver surfer for NES
wonderweissm
That’s because they haven’t played games in the earlier eras.
They didn’t have to deal with lack of save points, lack of options in games, etc.
There are still hard games sure, but games hold your hand compared to what they were in the NES/Sega Master System days

Imagine remembering all of the run specific Grunty facts

I love all the *Banjo-Kazooie* posts.
It’s not particularly difficult a game, but I’m still proud of myself for 100%ing it.
Edit: Important to mention, the Xbox 360 versions tone down the difficulty by letting you keep your notes when you collect them. The N64 version required you to find them all on one life without dying.
When Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts came out, it had an offer with Banjo Kazooie. Only played Nuts & Bolts.
After Tooie was released for xbla, didn’t play Kazooie & Tooie until I got Rare Replay. Did rebuy them separately, due to how rare replay license worked.
Never did finish any of the Banjo xbox releases, but had finished a few of the other games in Rare Replay.
I didn’t even finish the Yooka Laylee games. Same with Conker, Grabbed By The Ghoulies, Donkey Kong Country,.
