First actor I could recognize in a videogame, I think, was Starkiller (Sam Witwer).

Hollywood actors have always been in video games, but it’s definitely getting more common. But I grew up with a shitty Frankenstein adventure game where Tim Curry was Frankenstein.

  3. DemonDevilDog

Probably a hot take but I don’t like Hollywood in video games. Can’t come up with a good reason. Just don’t like it.

The Year 2000. Tim Curry voices the god Stratos in Sacrifice.

    Not a new thing

William Shatner’s Tekwar comes to mind

More like crawling over before starving

Yeah this is kinda always been a thing.

Ray Liotta, Dennis Hopper, and Tom Sizemore in GTA: Vice City??

True Crime: Street Of LA is another one that comes to mind, was done completely like a movie with Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken etc.

  8. Showbiz poking their way into VG territory isn’t a new thing. Shoot, Lance Bass voiced Sephiroth like 20 years ago. Ron Perlman did Fallout. Dafoe and Page pretty much led their own title. Jack Black was a leading man. The list goes on and on lol

Are they gonna start shitting up games as well now?

  10. SchmoRogaine

I’d take anyone at this point over Troy Baker, I’m so sick of him.

They should stop. It always ends up looking uncanny.

Have done for over 25 years now. What an absolute nonsense of an article.

And how many times do you plan on posting this article?

Never forget Christopher Walken’s amazing performance in Ripper.

Jonathan Rhys Davies also had a great part in that even if it was just the one scene. Surprisingly star studded cast including Paul Giamatti, David Patrick Kelly, Burgess Meredith, Ossie Davis, Jimmie Walker, and Karen Allen.

While it may not be as common as it is now, Hollywood has always been in video games. Along with the examples others listed, the GTA series pre-GTA IV were known to have Hollywood actors voice many major characters (e.g. Samuel L. Jackson in San Andreas).

  15. The remake of alone in the dark seems to be a good one. Judging by the praise for it right now.

This game got mid reviews I’m very dissapointed.

  17. I’m fine with it so long as fans don’t get a hard on every time one happens

  18. Alien_Racist

Star Citizen / Squadron 42 comes to mind… never seen so many Hollywood actors in a single game before.

Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Gary Oldman, Henry Cavill, Mark Strong, Ben Mendelsohn, *to name a few*…

Still find it crazy that Logan Royce from Succession (Brian Cox) voiced the antagonist in the first Manhunt film.

Edit – manhunt the game, not the film.

Gary Oldman as Reznov will always be my favorite video game performance

There are many times when actors have appeared in video games, just one example is Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077.

  22. DadlyDad

Death Stranding is a very good example of this. Whole cast is actors. I think it worked out pretty well.

  23. MagmaAscending

This has always happened but it’s much more prominent and apparent now that we’re not just hearing them but SEEING them too. I can’t remember the last time an actor was in a game and didn’t look exactly like how they look in real life

  24. Moonveil

Haven’t Hollywood actors been in video games for a while now? There’s more of them doing it now, but this isn’t exactly news.
