Really feels like we should be entering the last generation of video game consoles period.
The line between PC and console has been blurring for quite awhile now. And we’re getting to the point where the infrastructure for things like cloud gaming etc is become more widely available. Games as a subscription service has been getting pushed harder and harder both as live services but also game pass and the likes. That and people are probably getting tired of buying a system and then having mid generation upgrades to buy.
And I haven’t even begun to point out that Microsoft just doesn’t quite understand the console market and never has. I’m not saying they make a bad product or that there haven’t been reasons for owning an Xbox. But I am saying that Microsoft has never really understood what made Sony and Nintendo successful.
Xbox would do much better if they just fully embraced being a service rather than a hardware platform.
We’ve already known that. I know these outlets are just click baiting but constantly repeating the “no more Xbox hardware” lie is so shitty and without integrity.

I reckon Xbox should just bag the hardware and go all in on their service game. Bout time for consoles to take a backseat anyway

It was just people going hysterical as if it was the end if the world. It was already leaked that Microsoft already had a next gen console planned. It made no sense to leave the hardware especially if they want to keep the percentage of GP users that are on consoles.
Wait so a multibillion dollar global conglomerate powering the worlds most popular OS suite is going to release another of its previously successful gaming consoles which were and are also one of the worlds most popular game machines
No impossible they had a recent slight sales slump they’re gonna do software only now

As long as they keep the disc drive I’ll keep buying them. They drop it though? I’ll just retire from gaming. It’s not a very hard decision either at this point.
