As someone that has stray pre-ordered and never played or god of War for 2 years and started it once, I can understand i am no one to jugde.

But wtf is it with Portal? Play it now, get a friend then play the second one in coop, right now.

multiplayer games usually take all the attention and time. That’s why I don’t play them at all.

    Wow I’m jealous.
Wish I could play Skyrim for the first time.

Sometimes you just have to randomly click a game in your library and start it, you might enjoy them. Except for maybe RPG Maker games.

Are you truly wasting it or are you having fun?

As for Skyrim, you are right to be scared, especially if you are going to mod it, since that alone can take a few hours if done properly.

As someone who also enjoys “wasting time”, I tend to reserve time for single player games specifically. Dont do multiple single game playthroughs at once since you will likely burn out. Play them before or after your mp sessions depending on the intensity of the game.

I would recommend playing through the shorter games, like Portal, first to get them off the list, before getting into the long ones.

Ignoring that, I would personally recommend starting with Witcher 3. Don’t rush, enjoy the story, explore, read the stuff you find.

  6. Somehow totally opposite for me, I detest multi-player games for their repetitiveness and the lack immersion, story telling and good graphics. To this day can’t comprehend why all some people play is cs or fortnite. There is so much more to gaming.

  7. Oh man, I’d get it if you had some indie games you never get the motivation to delve in but the fact you never played Half Life 2 or the Portal games has to be some kind of basic gamer sin that lands you in a specific layer of gamer hell.

Especially since HL2 is the grand-grand-grand-daddy of CS2 you spent so much time in. Give it a shot. There ain’t nothing quite like it.

  8. I’ve played most of them, got bored of assassin’s creed after like the 5th game, like star wars but never enough to play the games, I probably should, only one I haven’t finished is witcher, the controls just feel off and I’ve just not picked it back up as it just feels difficult to play.

Anyway, back to being shit at counterstrike…

  9. You need to play it now so you can enjoy it again someday.

I have 1k hours on gta online (not rp), mostly playing it solo without friends and i consider it the biggest waste of time in my life. 1k hours i could have spent on literally anything else and instead i used it to sell drugs in a post op van about a gazillion times

You have committed a cardinal sin against Gaben by not playing Half Life 2 and Portal…

The others I can live with, but those two… unacceptable.

  12. PepSakdoek

Do portal 1 and 2. They are pretty short and easily worth it.

If you really have never played those on the right side, how old are you?

I have around 2,000 hours in game between both Skyrim versions on Steam. That is in game, and doesn’t include the other thousands of hours that I have spent modding the game.

  15. No_Berry2976

I wish I could play Half-Life 2, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, and The Witcher 3 for the first time again!

The problem with starting Skyrim now is that Bethesda has made so many updates that have broken so many mods.

  17. Su_ButteredScone

Hold off on playing Skyrim until you’re able to play the VR version fully modded. That’s up there as being a pinnacle gaming experience. It’s a waste to play the flatscreen version in comparison. Even if you have to wait a few years.

I’m exactly the same way, I try to enjoy other games, but always go back to esports/extreme multiplayer based games. I guess my brain just likes it better the unpredictability of what such games brings against single player where everything is already programed to happen a certain way.

I don’t know why I think that way I just do, even when I don’t know the games story, I’m still not motivated enough to keep playing.

Like RDR2, I hop on it, ride the horse for 10 min, get bored, quit

GTA V that up to this day I still haven’t finished story mode, I get on it, determined to do the next mission, 5 mins in and I’m destroying the whole city with a mini-gun in story mode ( I can’t even play online anymore, too boring) do that for about 20, and bored again.

The only games i don’t get bored in less than 20 minutes are valorant, cs2, some battlefields (multi-player ofc), cod, so on so forth.

  19. ngl this is happening to me with tv shows. the FOMO hits so hard that admitting you want watch something feels better than saying you will watch is some time later

  20. I had a backlog of 30 games because of cs:go, overwatch and heroes of the storm and when I stopped playing them my sanity returned and I finally finished Portal 2

  21. RentonZero

I actually thought assassins creed unity was one of the worst that was still assassin’s creed before the open world craze

  22. CCHTweaked

I bought Skyrim soon after it came out, played 5 minutes. put the game away.Blah.

Played Skyrim a couple years later, got until the nearest settlement. Put the game away again. /snore

About 5 years after Skyrim came out, I see it in my steam library having been completely forgotten about it.

    I install it.

    Again.

I call in sick to work the following morning, continuing my 16 hour gaming binge from the previous night. It got me.

We can forgive you for this, but only if you go play every last bit Portal 1 and 2 have to offer.

  24. Optimus_13

Half Life 2 didn’t age well, inspite being actually 10/10 game when released

  25. Old-Sacks

    Black Ops 2 ?
I thought any COD game made before 2013 was still filled with cheaters and/or likely to install doxxing malware.
