I think so too. I really hope that the sequel follows a different person. Like, we got all of V’s story so let’s play as another NC Legend in the making.
Devil ending should’ve had an alternative route like the sun where you join Yorinobu (and Michiko), snitch on Hanako, and crush Arasaka slowly but surely.

Don’t fear the reaper into the sun could also be a downer. All V’s friends talk about them becoming distant, not calling or becoming a bit of an ass, so if you’ve decided V cares about people more than fame it’s a bit less fun. If you want V to care about fame and all that then go crazy tho
Many games make their “secret” or most difficult ending cannon, so I’d say there’s a solid chance this one will be if they ever reveal a true cannon ending. That being said, if it’s Johnny or V that walks out of Mikoshi is another story. I prefer the one where it’s V. Live long enough to die in space or complete the final impossible mission and retire to live out your final few days
Ironically, i have planned to do a bit of digging with the datamine files i have rn, alongside make reasonable speculations on V, Song, and other acquaintances. Pop that into a video format and see what ppl think. Though i need another opinion.
For me Its love Story with Panam. Best ending going away from Night city.
The sad thing, is that (As one devs sad) there is no ,,canon” ending – the canon is in players head to create, maybe V left the city with the loved one? Maybe he vanished? His story lives in our imagination, and it ends (or goes) there.
Thats why it hits so hard, and puts emotional stone on our hearts. I wish we had a happy ending for him, or the possibility to fully ,,save him” in Orion, but it is, what it is.
My V stopped caring about becoming a legend after the Heist. Total perspective shift. I’d love to see the sequel carryover data so that our chosen ending is “canon”.
I killed smasher myself, let yorinobu live, went to space for treatment, and then went home to die in 6 months instead of getting soul harvested. What ending is that?
I like the DFTR ending, but I feel like post-timeskip V didn’t match the vision of “my” V that I built in my head, with V becoming distant to her friends and all that. Also Judy leaves me, and that makes it a terrible ending.
Leaving Night City with Panam and the nomads its the best ending imo

Nah, night city already has so many legends, we dont need another one, v needs to be with their friends and family, away from the city.
I think it’s an awesome way to end it, but I hope none of the endings are put into canon. I think Vs story should die after this game with maybe a nod here or there to their existence as an Easter egg or something. But nothing that refers to their fate.
Cyberpunk is a huge universe (or city… night city), and I wouldn’t want to see it locked in on the same characters. I bet Morgan blackhand has a larger role in Orion, though. Just a hunch.
One plot point that was common across all endings was Arasaka losing its grip in NC and Militech taking over. And if we could transfer our safe, just like Witcher 2 to 3, the beginning could be tailored towards the ending you chose as V. So if it’s any of the PL endings, V never went into Arasaka tower. Still, Militech took over.
V might be mentioned here and there. Just like Blackhand and Boa Boa. And I think only and only mentioned at the Afterlife bar.
I am pretty sure they’ll surprise us with the plot. CDPR, IMHHO, are the most diligent when it comes to plotting their stories in the whole industry.
I can’t stop imagining about sequel where some gonk put a Relic with V’s engram in their head and become night city’s worst cyberpsycho
