My “good” friend house sat for me years ago and traded his broken switch controller for my brand new controller. We are not friends anymore but it had nothing to do with the controller.

Maybe it’s the Cynic in me but id be worried the neighbour is aware of some issue with the ps5 for. For example maybe it shuts off automatically after a few hours from overheating after they damaged it. This happens and you freak out you tell them and then they turn into a non friendly neighbour and demand a new PS5.
Clean your hands before use, don’t use while or after smoking, clean dust and controller after use. Bring a little present when giving back (even an apple would do the job) like a card.
