Hello fellow redditors,
i bought a used i7 4790K + Asus Maximus Ranger VII.
Standard max „Turbo“ should be @4,4GHz.
I did not reset the UEFI after i bought the bundle but i am confused.
I first saw the max core #0-#3 @4.8GHz in HWMonitor. Since i know there are sometimes false readouts in HWMonitor i got HWiNFO64 v7.72-5355.
Both telling me my „turbo“ boost clock is @4,8GHz.
Then i stress tested the cpu in CPU Burner and every software shows 4,8GHz as stable value clock speed (not just a few seconds and not just max clock) with average temperature around 74°C.
To me the voltage of 1.408V feels way too high but maybe someone here has experience with that cpu/board and can tell me.
Now my main question: Is this also a false readout or is this possible? Seems quite high for me since many people struggled back in the days to get these clock speeds as my recent searches showed(with lower voltage to be honest). If false what software do you reccomend today?
PS: my own past oc experiences ended with FX-8350 (stable and non overheating 5,2GHz) and ended after buying my first intel cpu (6700K).
Thanks in advance for your answers
