Yeah, definitely do that for everyone else though.

i barely saved my 2 psp’s, forgot about em, then saw a youtube reminding people to check, and my battery cases were barely holding on.

I remember I had some alkaline batteries leak and ruin a toy as a kid, so even as a child I would always take batteries out of my stuff if it was going to not be used for a while. And just yesterday I found my old original game boy at my mom’s house. So now I have an OG Gameboy, a Gameboy Pocket, and a Gameboy Color. All with no corroded battery leakage in them. lol.

But this makes me think about the future of tech toys these days. In 20 years, I won’t be able to use my switch or Quest 3, because the internal batteries will have likely swelled up and/or gone bad. I really wish removable batteries were required on stuff like that.

Remove batteries from ANY device if it’s unused for a long time.

This is my biggest fear retaining all the latest gen consoles. Everything is rechargeable with non-removable batteries. My original NES is almost 40 years old and will probably work for another 40, but I cant see the switch working for more than 10 without the battery failing. My fear comes from storing them long-term and having this happen without anyone knowing it.

“I will probably use that tomorrow” -man didn’t play again for months

That’s good advice for anything with batteries

Just had a couple of alkaline batteries leak all over my Halo 5 controller. Been using it as my PC controller for YEARS, had no idea I had batteries still in it!

I freaked out when I got the powder/chemicals on my hands. Washed them thoroughly.

Pro tip: If this happens to you, vinegar and rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip work well to clean out the chemicals. Wear gloves.

This makes me nervous for all the random cell phones I’ve saved over the years, and have subsequently lost in random boxes from moving…

How do I remove batteries from my 3ds and psp?

  12. Precisely why I chose to acquire a Xbox Series X instead of a Playstation. I have learned my lesson with my PS3 controllers breaking because of swollen internal batteries.

Im surprised batteries haven’t been phased out.

Me when I checked my PSP batteries and all the batteries (including backups) exploded 🙁

Last time I checked my Wii like 10 years after launch, the batteries had leaked everywhere and it was all encrusted.

Glad it happened to a system I don’t give a damn about instead of a good one

  16. Yeah, have fun trying that with a PS Controller.
