I remember this well. Echoing cries. Endless, echoing cries

*One of the most frustrating platforming sections in gaming
That bloodtrail jumping was very hard for me on PS2.

I was a kid when I played play this, it was terrifying indeed
irinaaarun
Why does it look like a hallway in a children’s room?
CantHelpTheFact
Scary? No. Frustrating? Yes.
nakabra
I thought it was Saturnalia.
YachiAbunai
depends on how old gamer was when playing the game first time =)

Absolutely true
nm_already_taken
Years later and I cam still hear that annoying sound. This level isn’t scary it’s absolutely shite…. I hate it so much even now 😆
French_O_Matic
as a child i couldn’t go past the first nightmare sequence because it would send me into existential dread every time.
dehumanizer23
It was more infuriating than scary. The scream you hear when you fall is chilling tho. Have to mute the game every time I get to this part considering I fall off 100 times
Electronic-Baby-3465
As a teenager playing it at 2 in the morning
I had crazy dreams, so bad I gave the game away and never completed that level
BeMancini
Just frustrating, actually.
Chester-Ming
Aren’t they working on a Max Payne remake?
Ngl kinda hoping they leave these two levels out.

Played it around 14-15y old, i guess, and found it creepy. I remember that, through falling from the blood trail at the right Spot, it would let u skip a long Part of the walk.
PantaReiNapalmm
Mmmm scariest?
Eng is not my first language, but imho that was not scary, it was more anguish
Scary imho is more suited for Silent Hill 2. Fear of what was goin to happen and FEAR for what you did in the past.
DoomWomb
The scream every time you fall down pissed me off more than anything
ericypoo
I remember doing this scene when I was like 12 and I did not have the dexterity to accomplish it, but the most vivid memory is that I kept trying for probably an hour with the baby just going on and on and on, and finally my mom from the other room had it, and yelled for me to turn that shit off because it was so annoying.
jukkhop
Doesnt look as bad as the hospital in Silent hill in nightmare mode
Sparktank1
It was scary at first. It was so unsettling. And then you just get annoyed how long it takes to get through the level and the audio being on repeat doesn’t help. You just get so numb and annoyed.
Rolands_eaten_finger
Nearly softlocked my game by accidently hitting quicksave instead of quickload when I fell off the edge. My fav game but those sequences are terrible
SmokinBandit28
Infuriating, demoralizing, stressful, yes.
Scary, not really.
AffectionateUmpire20
This scene gave me nightmares for 3 years
esoteric_enigma
I just remember being annoyed
Farnic
I can’t wait to see this in the remake
Nomi_0071
Also the scream when you would face the wrong way on the red pathway
It was nuts while wearing headphones
deadlygr
Max payne was one of my most played games as a kid and i dont remember being fussed by that part at all
SavageTS1979
The baby crying in the background f’d with my head for days
Delta4o
I played it for the 5th time a few weeks ago when I bought the bundle and I wasn’t scared at all 🙂 I finally felt like a big girl.
Virga24
Yo does anybody remember the PS2 game the suffering?
That one was pretty fucked up too
nephilimpride
these will go hard in the remake
Geberpte
Fist time seeing this level adds to the mood and story of the game. Every try and session after that one it’s utter shite. Still have fond memories of this game though.
Caster1214
God I remember when I played that masterpiece of a game 15 years ago, wonderful
PickaxeJunky
I got so stuck on that level.
I had to turn the sound off because that baby scream was too much.
Kimosabe_79
The fuckin baby…
Killmelast
Great level and level design! It’s not really all that scary, that would be the haunted house in Vampire:Bloodlines.
Also just both such good games in general, I guess it’s time for another playthrough
gaz8600
Blood trail balancing was a daft mechanic
Overall-Slice7371
As a kid, I could never make it through the blood trail platforming. So I never beat the game.

Also one that pissed me off the off the most. I’m gonna have a nice long talk with whoever at Remedy decided to give Max moon gravity in his nightmares and have those stupid blood trails be thinner than my patience.

Ocean house hotel from bloodlines would like a word

I was also a young kid when I played. Had to let either my dad or brother do this for me.

I always think it’s funny when people say a moment is the “scariest moment in gaming,” when what they mean is “this is an early scary moment in gaming for me.” Reminds me of when people used to say the absolute scariest gaming moment OF ALL TIME was the dogs jumping out of the window in resident evil. Then I watched the clip and laughed in confusion lol
