Witcher 1’s story was great but the gameplay was so frustrating and as the dev put it, convoluted asf. Since it’s a remake and not a remaster, they might as well rework everything while they’re at it to make it on-par with the sequential Witcher games.
Gerald’s trilogy has come to an end, so Witcher 4 (codename Polaris) will be a fresh start for the franchise. They should streamline the transition process within Geralt’s trilogy to make it more accessible to the new era of gamers.

Honestly I’m not against the idea. I tried to play The Witcher 1 and it has NOT aged well. The combat is more a rhythm-game QTE than anything else.

Can’t wait , I loved that game even though it was clunky. It’s seriously the best game series in my opinion. Witcher 3 was a masterpiece I still play it every now and then. Cant wait for the next one.

Nothing’s been confirmed, no one knows that exactly will be removed. Maybe the QTA combat. Maybe bob cards. Everyone crying either hasn’t played Witcher 1 or is being blinded by nostalgia. Witcher 1 is a quirky unwieldy slob that has aged like milk left out in direct sunlight on a hot summer’s day.
Some things just need trimming and need to go. That is not a bad thing. As compared to both the sequels, Witcher 1’s borderline just a fetch quest simulator. They don’t have to change much for anything to be an improvement.

The “women card collection” will be censored, as usual considering the current trends. It’s amusing to remember this game, it’s such a blatant fanfic, it features a idealized take of Geralt, the character was such a womanizer he just cleaned house everywhere he goes (he even sleeps with the princess/striga he saved in the very first tale), super powerful (in Watcher 2 he faces a dragon head on), etc.. this silliness is part of the charm of those fanfics imo I still think this trilogy is the best fanfic ever made, even with the obvious flaws here and there, but after reading the novels, the quality differences are severe, day and night comparison. Witcher 2 is the game who gets closer to the books as quality goes, best story of the trilogy, then the first two acts of Witcher 3 are pretty decent, the DLCs (more like expansions) were really good, etc.. I’m curious to see if the new team can salvage Witcher 1, because the basic premise of a secret organization seeking the Witcher secrets is a decent idea
