That’s nice. And maybe gives some hope to the Xbox guys

That sucks. But good to stay off a sinking ship I guess.

Real talk. This is not snark but an invitation to honest answers.
Has an independent company ever been acquired by a major publisher and the result was a vast step up across the board on their games?
I feel like I can’t name too many times where the upgrade was significant. My perspectives is they are generally corralled and constrained by the whims and wants of the parent company. A lot of what made their games unique is lost in the change. I could be wrong.

Ah so Microsoft had a better bid (/s)

Its better they stay independent then fold under Sony and be forced to release swill or force heavy monetization on pay to win aspects because of Management chasing numbers for the quarter.

If it’s acquired by Sony I’ll bet it’ll be as boring as Spiderman games. It’ll turn into a generic and bland game.

That would be a death flag flag for the studio. better to just take the Sony money and not having their whole IPs get taken.
Felix_Von_Doom
That is, until Sony stops asking nicely and does a hostile takeover.
Outrageous-Yam-4653
To late plus doesn’t Sony own the IP?
You want to buy these studio’s before they blow up not after imagine the price difference now..

Good, we are getting to the point where independent studios can thrive instead of how it used to be where they relied on big publishers.
Now, realistically, you could make a game and upload it to steam, upload trailers to your YouTube channel, post them on Reddit or twitter and render the publisher useless.

If Arrowhead got acquired by Sony, Helldivers 3 will be straight ass. Even if made by Arrowhead. We all know it already.
If their recent succes is not enough money to line their pockets and still be able to love their jobs, they can eat a dick.
I am glad the CEO chose to remain “independent”, but is realistically just a few hundred million dollar deal away from selling out the IP.
achmejedidad
that’s good. hopefully Sony doesn’t just try to make them their bitch like they did Bungie.
