I play on hard because I don’t have skills for real life.
Platonist_Astronaut
I have the time, I just kinda can’t be assed dealing with difficulty any more? lmao
TrickyRobotX
For me personally, it all depends on the game. Sometimes high difficulty actually provides a good challenge. Sometimes the negative aspects of the game show themselves even worse, which is why medium or easy difficulty is better.
MegaSkelet
You do not *need* to have an excuse to play on easy mode
Logondo
Depends on the game.
Unfortunately there’s just some games that…hold back if you play on the easier difficulties. Stuff gets locked out. Certain enemies don’t show up. Features don’t get used.
Which is why I usually play on the hardest difficulty.
And achievements.
rastacurse
1. Playthrough on normal
2. Bump up difficulty for second playthrough
3. Second playthrough lasts 7 minutes
4. Next game
5. Repeat
BastetFurry
I nowadays play any real time game for the story, so easy mode it is. Hit me with hard mode if i have all the time deciding my next turn.
Too old for this shit gang, report in!
SniffingAccountant
This is why I can’t play souls games. I just don’t have the patience anymore. If they could create an easier mode, it would be great. For sure the game can shame us when we select the easy mode – like a clear indication on the screen that we are using easy mode or inability to win trophies or anything.
griffin_3123
Ha, pretty much. Just got to playing god of war(newer one) and turned it onto easy mode because my life is hard enough, I want to throw this axe and feel like a fucking god for a few hours.
Loa_Sandal
Skills for the grind? What does that even mean?
Sparktank1
I used to try harder difficulties. But some games can’t find a balance and just tweak hitpoints and everyone becomes a bullet sponge.
Got so sick of Borderlands. The rewards were supposed to be higher, but we never found anything useful than what we started with. We were just playing the game at that point to get through the game. There was no risk vs reward. Felt so empty.
Doc_Chopper
I usually play the default difficulty setting, but I can understand the thinking. Playing on hard usually only, when I really like the game and want to complete it (or for the challenge)
Combust1990
Most of the time i play on normal, but i used the easy mode in Horizon Foridden West. I like the story and the world, but the fights annoyed me.
Whiteguy1x
For me it depends on the game. I mostly stick to normal mode, but my most played games have been rpgs like fallout or baldur’s gate 3 where you typically feel over powered more than underpowered.
I’ve never seen a point in playing on hardmode as usually it just inflates stats and makes everything a damage sponge.
I also don’t really do “grind” games. Never enjoyed that part of games, even when I played jrpgs like pokemon or final fantasy as a kid
Sewere
Sometimes I just remove inventory weight limits from some games with cheats.
kokko693
Before I was always playing games on hard mode because I was thinking “enemies are harder to kill, the game will take a long time to beat”
Turns out most of the times, enemies have just more hp and hit stronger, they are not smarter.
Also I have less time to play so making the game too long is not so good now.
So yeah, normal difficulty now
Atlanos043
For me I am more a “because skills” kinda person and it heavily depends on the genre for me.
In other words: I am absolutely TERRIBLE at Strategy games.
Hayaguaenelvaso
What about “normal” mode?
There is a balance between mindless going through, and having a challenge without having to reload 20 times. That’s the sweet spot for me. Both too hard and too easy will make me bail on a game.
AmbitiousPirate5159
Sometimes I like a challenge but I dont always have the energy to tolerate it so easy mode it is to chill and be
_Screw_The_Rules_
I play ob mid/normal or one above those if I’m rather confident that I can do it. That way it’s not lame and you can also boost skills that can be used in real life.
tetsuo24
Personal preference.
I am presently playing the games of my childhood that kicked my ass, e.g., Megaman games, and though my ass is still getting kicked, beating one boss at a time makes me feel better, i.e., I feel relaxed afterwards.
GloomySugar95
Grinding real life for what? To make your boss rich?
sere_dim
I was completing Oblivion on hard, then switched to easy and it was such a pleasure not to shoot 100 arrows in one mob
piraja0
I hate “difficulties” the game devs should decide how challenging the game should be, not me
lunarlunacy425
I find if a game is too easy it becomes boring and un rewarding, if there’s no effort it I don’t feel any reward for doing it.
Kind of feels like I never leave the tutorial zone and the game is leaving the training wheels on for me, which is very un rewarding. I’ve never understood how people can do something that requires zero effort and still get the same metal reward from it.
samlindsayy
Unless you playing NFS UB and it’s just hard on easy
LordSparks
Any time I have this mentality and choose normal difficulty over hard, I wind up regretting 3 hours later when the lack of challenge bores me.
KuyaKurt
I rarely play on easy mode. I always play a Normal game. But there’s nothing wrong playing on easy. Sometimes, I play through because of the story.
Independent_Plum2166
Wise words from the space birds.
kkiiee
life would be shitty if we all enjoyed the same things…
atax112
Yeah, with two kids I rather enjoy a quick killing spree than go hard on the grind in the games I like.
and there is always another WAD for Doom so easy dopamine 😀
MaoAankh
Playing on easy mode because normal and hard mode are just the same shit with lesser resources or scaling enemy HP/ATK/DEF which doesn’t provide new experiences.
