AMD’s Chief Technical Officer: ‘We’re enabling our gaming devices to upscale using AI’

  1. With how good FSR has become without AI, I am quite excited to see how good it is with an AI component added.

Now go AMD, catch up to DLSS Video and HDR next, then all my main daily uses are covered.

I can’t wait for PCMR to drool over AMD’s new proprietary upscaling/frame gen FSR that only works on RX 8000 GPUs, after complaining about DLSS 3 being locked to RTX 40 GPUs. If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s double standards for AMD vs Nvidia.

It’s interesting but do they have a supercomputer to train the model or how is that going to work.

Devices. Makes me think of their new AI optimized CPUs, but using it for video would just add latency. Gotta wait for the leaks and see, I guess.

AI is the new NFT, NFT was the new Cyrpto, Crypto was the new something.

Assume this is just the windows upscaling thing?

Just spit balling here, but couldn’t they use the AI cores for this on the 7000 series?

a steam deck with fsr3, vrr and frame-gen will be a game change.

Can anyone explain what those Radeon ai cores have been doing this entire time anyway? If they weren’t using that hardware for this what purpose was it serving?

Ah. So they’re going with the “proprietary” method that they’ve constantly maligned Nvidia for taking.

There are limits to what a software based upscaling solution can do, so it makes sense. They should have done this way earlier though, as now they’re years behind.

AMD should start using hardware accelerated upscaling already.

I don’t remember if this is the exact video I’m thinking about, but FSR actually looks better than normal if you use it on an AMD, vs if you used it on an Intel or Nvidia GPU. So… hardware acceleration will only serve to improve what’s already happening anyways.

Our latest gaming device has been assembling itself using AI at an astounding rate. It calls itself Megatron.

After all the shit AMD stans talked about Nvidia using AI upscaling, I can’t wait to see them spin this.

AMD about to step out of the stone age, nice
