Ah, this will be a bit of a nightmare I suspect. Once a button is accidentally dropped under the layout controls you’re almost certainly looking at resetting to default and re-customising.
I’d take a screenshot to help put things back in the right place
You can also get a share code for your current scheme and import it to another layout if you want a back-up
I’m guessing you’ve tried both sizes of the control box and seeing if you can grab it with repeated swipes across that area? If you manage to get it highlighted then you can use the arrow keys to move it to safety. I don’t see how that will work here because the mode drop-down doesn’t change position.
