I wanted to share a little bit of what I and the team have been working on.
Around mid-2021, after my third (or fourth?) re-read of Neuromancer, I decided to ask my brother if he was on board to create a sci-fi/cyberpunk universe. We used to play a card game called “Android:Netrunner” together and always found its universe fascinating due to how well they compelled the immersion and feeling of hacking in a 1vs1 physical card game.
With that huge inspiration, we get to work. We called a friend who’s a translator and writer (none of us is a native English speaker) and asked him to be our main editor or, as we like to call him, “The Lorekeeper”, the mastermind that glues together all our crazy ideas and add theirs on top to keep the universe cohesive.
We drafted the basic concepts we wanted to explore in this universe and from there started to dig deeper.
We knew we wanted to explore usually overlooked locations in mainstream Cyberpunk, like Latin America from where we are, or Africa.
The other thing we wanted to focus on was the classical trope of the struggle between hackers and mega-corporations (very inspired by Netrunner) focusing on the daily lives of the common folk in what we call “Cyberpunk Costumbrism”.
So, we ended up creating 5 hackers (“Runners”) factions each with their ethos, beliefs, motivations, and ways of working. On the other side of the table, we introduced 5 mega corporations, each controlling one or more vital resources and industries, along with their CEOs, their backstories, and motivations.
Around a year and a half ago, we started developing the first videogame set in this universe. A deckbuilder and dungeon crawler hybrid with a unique focus on immersion, narrative, and exploration, things we feel are missing in the genre, and we called it Into The Grid ([Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2576200?utm_source=worldbuilding) if you are curious).
A few weeks ago, we started sharing weekly pieces of lore on our [Discord](https://discord.gg/ZhW6JHrQ9h). I’ll start posting those here too and I’ll edit this post over time with links to each lore post to keep it organized.
I really hope you like it!

This is so exciting! I’ve been reading “Eternal Gods Die Too Soon” by Beka Modrekiladze, and it’s a great read if you’re into cyberpunk and philosophical sci-fi. It covers topics like the nature of reality, time, free will, and the interplay of science and philosophy. It’s also got a lot to say about human nature and societal collapse. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a thought-provoking read!
