Red Dead 2 surprised me with the amount of gore. First time some dude smart mouthed me I was trying out FPS mode and I blew his head and half his arm off in an instant with a sawed off shotgun.

I knew immediately it was the western game I always wanted….

how is dying light 2 and dead island 2 not here?

  3. TheTunisianGun1

Doom without a doubt! One of the goriest games ever made🩸

  4. Hydronium-VII

F.E.A.R. had good gore for when it was released. Blowing people up with a shot gun or grenade or mines. Heads rolling on the floor, bodies split in half.

  5. SilkySmoothScrotum

God of War 3 should be first and foremost here

  6. L4D2 is still out there as the best looking for its time

That first torque bow kill in PvP 👍🏽

Gears of War personally as a teen, and yes, it was very satisfying and fun to do!

    They made a manhunt 2?

I remember the controversy manhunt caused

The darkness was pretty good for its time, loved ripping out hearts

  11. whereisfishman

Manhunt 2 is straight up censored. You want Manhunt 1.

  12. confusedcraftsman

Cyberpunk actually has some nasty gore effects.

  13. Racist_carbonara

manhunt 2 had amazing gore for the time but its a genuinely crap game

How is call of duty world at war not in here. You haven’t lived until you’ve taken off half a torso with a double barrel

  15. New-Monarchy

Doom *Eternal* gotta take it for me, its gore actually has a gameplay mechanic to it (The more meat shot off of an enemy, the less health they have).

  16. totowolfie95

I just started playing Dead Island 2 on game pass and it has the best gore by far

  17. THEzwerver

Killing floor 2, how has it not been mentioned yet?

Manhunt needs remade in today’s graphics. Maybe just take the two and make one game.

He put GoW ragnarok as if we wouldnt notice lmao

In NG+ of Last of Us part 2 at the TV station where a group of W.L.F’s slowly entered and before they dispersed I shot a dynamite arrow at them, they mostly turned into a big wet mush.

There were a a few pretty brutal ones in the Tomb Raider reboots. The one where you were trying to go down water rapids and if you mess up you get impaled through your chin up through your head seemed pretty gruesome. Watching her claw at it and then slowly fade was kind of like torture-porn.

I know it’s really dated and not really realistic, but the gore physics in Postal 2 work well enough, the sledgehammer bursts heads open, you can throw a machete like a boomerang and watch people’s legs vanish, split people in half with a scythe, etc.

Oh, and the game’s Double Barrel Shotgun is amazing, literally just pulverises your enemies.

TLOU2 made me say “jesus” out loud many times. Also my dog would always leave the couch when I’d play that game.

  24. PhilipeCalderon

Last of Us honestly has some crazy gore effects that I don’t think people expect when first playing

  25. BigBlue1105

Last of Us 2 for painfully realistic gore. Knifing someone in the jugular, only to see blood squirt out and their face wince in pain and fear is brutal. Also watching people explode from trap mines or explosive arrows.

But Doom (2016) for just hilariously over the top, cartoonish gore. Ripping an imp clean in half, longways, with your bare hands is always fantastically absurd.

  26. Ninja Gaiden 2. Even the menu screen was just blood spattered everywhere.

  27. smarmycheesesandwich

Cyberpunk 2077. You absolutely mangle fools in that game. Not uncommon to be looting a limbless, headless torso.

  28. ExpendableUnit123

Played all of these but honesty Dead Island 2 takes the absolute cake.

You can only disagree if you haven’t played it. Otherwise you’d know.
