Upon further investigation, it is just rejecting discs. At least that’s what my IT cat says. 🐈⬛

Let the cat handle it

The originalxbox subreddit could probably help you with this

Try reverse psychology.
DemonDevilDog
Give the cat a minute. He seems to be diagnosing.

I had the same issue with my PS4, turns out a rogue dorito got stuck in there. Try giving your Xbox a gentle tap or try blowing on it like an old school cartridge!
Meep_Merrp
Give your cat some time to think he’ll figure it out
AddendumNo7007
Spank it a few times. That usually works, well it works for me at least.

The cat has a “I’m about to make this problem go away” look on its face

I had this issue. I just opened it up and reseated the power and data connectors for the disc drive then it worked like normal. Bonus to opening it, you can dust out your almost 25 y/old console. Just be careful and follow a guide like the one from ifixit

No idea but first I’d try unplugging it from the wall for several seconds with the tray closed.
Donglemaetsro
Use it as a cup holder.
Xytakis
I don’t know how to fix it, but your kitty seems to be on the case. Best of luck I hope it can be fixed.

Not sure about the OG Xbox but on the 360 my disc tray refused to work half the time. There was a rubber o ring connecting two gears that ejected the tray that needed to be cleaned. Never had an issue again.
momentofinspiration
My guess it’s the gear that drives it has jumped a few teeth past its end point so it now considers itself closed at full open
full_bodied
Push the tray in manually, had that issue before
axisrahl85
I feel like I’ve fixed something similar on an old PC by turning it off and forcing the tray closed then turning it back on. I wouldn’t force it too hard though.
LachoooDaOriginl
maybe just slowly push it back in?
squeezy102
No but I’m relatively sure, by the photo, that I know how it got that way and who broke it.

Just ask it to stop 🤷♂️

Cat has to perform a Xbox exorcism

Back in the day you just wrapped it up in a blanket and tucked it into bed because when it acted up it was just sleepy or something.
