Whats a single detail that kept you from buying a game?

Skull and Bones, 2 of the A’s fell off and the other two are half broken.

Their subreddit is half “people say so much bad stuff but I like it” and the other half is the same people “anyone notice there’s nothing left to do but sail in circles after 1 day?”

They’re trying so hard to justify that money spent.

I’ve not bought console games specifically because I know the performance is poor. I’ll typically wait for a pc port or update at least.

Got this game on discount, still feels like got ripped off. Just sailing in circles checking my bank account.

My buddy wont buy Helldivers because of the tni-cheat. He explained why it was a big no-no and now Im honestly considering uninstalling it….fucking root kits sitting under everything.

  6. rootkits, rootkits, and more rootkits. No, riot, I’m not performing kernel-level hacks in your competitive egirl simulator, and neither is anyone else.

  7. No Coop campaign – all of the Halos lately.

Battle Passes. I prefer casual experiences, so when I see that a game has a BP, instant turn off because I feel like I am losing out on something AND I am expected to keep playing that game every day.

I loved Need For Speed: Heat and a bunch of the older titles like Most Wanted 2012 and Rivals, so seeing that Unbound has a SPEED PASS is so dissapointing.

Forza Motorsport not having the normal car upgrade method

I literally have never preordered or bought at launch, games are too unfinished. I’d rather wait a while and also save money because I can get the game on sale AND it will be in a better state by then

  12. It’s debatable whether this is a “detail,” but I’ve always been put off Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom by what looks like extensive use of menus in the middle of combat.

Being able to stop time and reach into my magic bag of 10,000 goodies kills a lot of the tension, and breaks up the rhythm of the fight in a way that hurts immersion and pacing. The pressure to handle the problem in real time is a lot of the fun for me.

I know you can always set personal restrictions, which is something I do in lots of games, but it’s not always that simple, because if a game is designed on the assumption that you’ll use menus a lot while fighting, it’s less likely the game will be made *more* fun by ignoring core principles of that design. I prefer if real-time action with minimal pausing is what the developers have in mind when creating the core gameplay loop.

The idea of having to spend time cooking also fills me with a sense of dread, which is adjacent to all that. My first playthrough of Skyrim is helping me get over my pausing pet peeve, but crafting as a main gameplay mechanic has kept me from trying many titles.

More recent Fallout games not being a true RPG. I eventually got the other ones to complete my Fallout collection & kinda did like them after noticing the improvements to them & using mods.

When they advertise the cosmetic shop before or during the games launch, clearly gutting the cosmetics we can unlock by progression and instead sell it to you in a shop or battle pass.

  16. LucinaSimp

Any kind of battle pass or in-game store that only works with real money in a full price game.

  17. Combat_Armor_Dougram

Final Fantasy VII Remake having a completely different gameplay loop, making it feel more like a reimagining than a remake.

Diablo 4 eventually coming to gamepass.

Only like 2 more months to go.

Needing a game publisher account to log in to play a single player game. I don’t care if there’s a multiplayer part that needs it, just let me play the fricking SP campaign without giving you my data you corpo fucks.
