I built a new system

Like everyone, I enabled the XMP profile in bios.

All well and good, booted straight to Windows. But, upon checking TestMem5(extreme@anta777 & absolutnew), there were errors in first cycle itself. Tested Forza Horizon 5 game, that was also crashing. But after disabling XMP, TestMem5 is passing with flying colors and Forza Horizon 5 is also running without any issues.

I went back to bios and saw there is another option called “DDR5 XMP Booster” (above the XMP option), probably gigabyte is giving these profiles, so I went ahead and choose one that is close to my RAM’s XMP speeds. **Hynix X.M.P 7200 16G 38-44-44-105 1.45V**

Now the TestMem5 is passing. Here are the new speed and timing.

Question:

1. Is the 1.45 V is safe for my RAM, because the G.Skill spec page says 1.4V ?
2. Should I choose different profile in “DDR5 XMP Booster” to be safe and stable ?

    Take it from personal experience. Your IMC may be the limiting factor, but when I had the Aorus Elite AX I was hard limited to 7000 MT/s. A good chunk of people were limited to 6800. I was only able to get 7200+ stable on the Aorus Elite X series of Mobos from Gigabyte. There is a huge difference in how they drilled the memory lanes and thickened the mobo.

    So all that to say, try from 6800 MT/s and see if that’s stable first. Also, Ycruncher VT3 and testmem5 Absolut config is way more telling of tests for stability.

  3. Above 7200 MT/s is usually where the IMC starts to become the limiting factor (also assuming your motherboard can also do 7200).

    What are the auto values your motherboard is using for CPU VDD2, CPU VDDQ (I can see VCCSA in the pic)?

    To answer your question: yes, it’s safe. Some people have used 1.65v and it’s fine in the long-term. I’m assuming the XMP booster is just a “tweaked” XMP option that tightens a few things for, while probably giving some of the IMC auto voltages a boost. This might be why it seems more stable with the booster option enabled.
