I have an 8 month old baby and have realized that I’m more interested in the “idea” of a relaxing evening playing games and continue to buy them but rarely play.
Even when I have time, I find myself running benchmarks or messing around tweaking dumb stuff. it’s been hard to get immersed into a game lately for some reason. I think this kind of thing comes and goes so hopefully i’ll get back into the hobby soon.
I keep telling myself that I’ll start on my backlog of Steam games but it’s probably never going to happen, lol.

I have been playing Palworld a lot recently, but I still find myself missing Ragnarok and all its adventures. However, I recently had an intriguing thought that sparked a new perspective.
“What if I could use this time to enhance my child’s cognitive abilities?”

I’ve thought a lot about it, cause i love gaming but it’s aweful nowadays. My conclusions is that while graphics improved, the overall games have remained the same. Any Assassin’s creed game is the same with just different story and world, same with call of duty or any other brands.
The game experience has not improved in the last 15 years. NPC’s have the same boring conversations and games remained mission based. Worlds are the same, only more fancy. Nothing innovative to hook you up, all games feel the same to me.

I feel this. Especially with multiplayer games. I’m just not into being competitive anymore. Tbf I know it’s a skill issue. My friends have always been better at me in those as I usually tend to play adventure/story driven games which I feel is more my niche and personally find more immersion in them. Seems like Helldivers 2 is pretty fun though. Maybe I’ll play that with them at some point.

It is not games that are not fun. Just choose the right games. And play them when you don’t have some important shit going on in your life. I played witcher 3 when i built my pc in 2021. loved it. tried far cry 5 or 6 hated it. right now i am focusing on my career and am taking a break for the next 3-4 years. but i will be back. unless i get married (im 35) then ill have to see how things go…

I felt the same way, put my pc in a cupboard and focused on other things, after a month roughly i had the urge to pull it out and have been getting really into some games recently. Take yourself away from it till it feels fresh again, trust me!

Yes, it happened to me as well. Recently I got a new office at home and managed to put a nice 55 inch lg c3. We also have a C2 on the same size. Since I can play without interruptions to watch something, it has really increased my enjoyment of games.

Try different ones, I for once discovered monster hunter recently and I have a blast. You’ll find something eventually here are a few I can tell you bout’:
Monster Hunter World – fun game about some cavemen hunting dinosaurs
Half-Life – it’s a classic for a reason
Half-Life 2 – I had less fun than with HL1, but I still loved it.
Metal Gear Solid 3 – I’m replaying it for like 3 time now it’s that fun.
Assasin’s Creed II – Molto Bene
Splinter Cell – The soundtrack still rocks
Batman Arkham Origins – Hell of a lot of fun
SuperHot – The Most innovative shooter I played in years
Old Call of Duty like MW, MW2 or WaW – I recommend playing them on on high difficulties.
Halo – Those games rock I played only Reach from start to finish and it was fun.
Shadow of Mordor/War – I’ve had lots of fun making allies and enemies
Deus Ex – After all if you mention it someone would install it.

Right? Its literally running rn not doing anything while I sit on my bed typing this… And I just semi finished building it a couple of days ago. Not the top tier, but the best I ever had. Seems like I had more fun trying to make games run on a shitty pc than actually playing them on the machine that can handle it. Crazy.
