Goro at least has a better reason, he wanted that job his whole life and was lifted out of horrible poverty by saburo, whom he then failed to protect. That’ll buy some loyalty
at least with reed, in the ending where so mi >!dies!<, he starts to come to the understanding there might be more to life than the nusa and meyers. with takemura, that mf is loyal to the grave

We can never really say which one is better than which. We don’t know who Reed was before he became an Agent, and Takemura atleast has a background.
For all we know he might’ve been some ghetto kid picked up by Myers herself or something.

Except Reed can change his ways, whilst Goro will always be a lapdog. It’s something people don’t often realise/conveniently forget because they simp for songbird.
Seems like most people shitting on Reed and comparing him with Goro never actually suggested this guy to go rogue and just “don’t take that plane”
Reed’s the one that puts his life on the line for his team, he died for his nation, and regardless of Meyers whatever he did was to save So Mi, who (sorry to break it down to the weebs reading) is a manipulative person that never had to face the consequences of her actions, if not at the end in the most brutal way possible for anyone involved.
Yet, if So Mi goes down, Reed can understand that’s more than work in life and move on, not even holding grudges on V, and even without taking this route he’s the one looking out on V choosing the Tower ending, meaning even if our protagonist it’s pretty much useless at that point, he’s ready to pay his debt.
Instead Goro would easily sell V to Arasaka and never stops calling them “thief”, but for some reasons his tragic goofiness at being a normal folk in a normal world outside his buble gets ridden as cute by the community. He’s a child soldier that grew up being the bodyguard to one of the most infamous people on the planet, completely unable to even have a real personality: he’s a walking stereotype of what a “samurai in the wrong century” would be and that’s way different than being just mr fuckin secret agent.

At least Takemura’s honest about where his loyalties lie. Reed says to your face that he’s going to help So Mi get away from Myers, then turns around and does the exact opposite.
For some reason , people still think siding with reed is the best ending for PL , just like reed said “this isn’t about So MI anymore” best ending is to side with So mi and kill reed ( it frees both of em from a dark Organization )
