It’s the same problem with the Witcher 3.

  2. TaurineDippy

This has never been an issue for me since I can only focus on one RPG character at a time. I can’t keep all my character stories straight in my head and they all turn into the same character.

This is how CDPR handles game saves. I’m not saying it’s a good way, but it’s also not unique to CP2077. TW3 has the same issues

What? I have two separate saved characters.

THANK YOU. Digging through old saves is an absolute pain in the ass. I can see what I’m doing, just not which character.

I accidentally saved over my lvl 50 V when I started a new save for the 2.1 patch. Guess I’ll never use that V again.

Tbh all the endings are grimdark anyway. The happiest endings are:

    >!You get to live! But all your friends abandon you, and you’re limited to ‘ganic. Which could be a problem if you’re borged out like Smasher and no longer have your own organs and limbs. Also, the world is still run by sociopaths, some of whom are brainwashed.!<

    Or

    >!You die, but Johnny gets a second chance at life and love. At least your body gets to bang Rogue. Also, the world is still run by sociopaths, some of whom are brainwashed.!<

    Or

    >!You get to slowly wither away on a road trip with your new dysfunctional family. Fun! Also, the world is still run by sociopaths, some of whom are brainwashed.!<

yeah, my save folder is a complete mess. It would be great if they did it the way BG3 does.

Pro tip: Use the thumbnail to customize your character save. *A picture is worth a thousand words*

I just want to be able to redistribute my ability points more than once

Realistically you pick a starting path and you make a save before nocturne and do all the endings.

Also this isnt an issue if instead of clicking ‘new save data’ every time you quit you just overwrite your main save constantly. So you’d have 3 main saves for each life path, for example

Honestly glad mods have added the ability to name saves at least.

Yeah this is one thing that I hate on so many games.

You are encouraged to create multiple characters to explore the game but the save games are all mixed up in a single directory and you have to be so careful to not mix them up.

And for those who don’t think it is a problem; try creating two Corpo characters to play different ways and then keep track of which savefile is which playstyle.

Yes you can do it but it is made difficult by not making each character a separate save game that you can’t mix up.

I have a notepad document that has all 20 saves listed with each V being described in their unique way. That helps a lot.

Lol yeah. They got me literally writing down my saves. If they added the ability to name our save files, we’d be all set.

  16. Iatemydoggo

Yeah I have one save per replay and I’m always terrified I might overwrite my “main” save on accident. Did that once, actually, but I had an auto save from it still available.

  17. GrayJay147

I went through, deleted auto saves, and made sure my manual saves were up to date. It’s inconvenient, sure, but it doesn’t bother me a whole lot.

Ummmm, not entirely true there dude……..or at least it’s not that way on PS5. You do have an option to have separate save files, granted they aren’t character based save files, but separate all the same. I myself have three current save files for three different characters, Pansex-female V, straight male V and gay male V. Straight male V, is more of a juggernaut with emphasis on strength and heavy guns, pansex female V is more of a pure sniper with some netrunning and gay male V is purely a netrunner with extremely high shinobi skills. So, it is possible dude, just saying. You do have to make sure you keep track of what slot is what, or you’ll overwrite a save file you may not want to.

Nearing the end of my first playthrough and had no idea this was the case lol oh well, once I’m done with a playthrough I never return to it so shouldn’t be a huge issue.

  20. Blackbox7719

I honestly haven’t had a problem thanks to my system. For gameplay I rely on quick saves and when the time comes for big decisions (Firestarter, Nocturne, etc.) I make a manual save. Any save that isn’t one of those I prune regularly, keeping my load list open to just important moments in specific runs.

  21. checked_idea

Maybe I’m immature but CP2077 sounds a little weird to me bro

  22. YEah this one bothered me a lot. Seems like a pretty standard practice these days at least it should be.
