In can think of a few reasons this might have happened, but I don’t think any of them would apply to your situation. Huh.

It was the most determined zombie ever. He really wanted you dead

Wtf?? I was just telling someone that I read someone likes to get a mega to chase them to exfil but not a few minutes into the game. AND that’s about as far from T3 as possible.

I was soloing and a couple dudes crashed an aether nest I was clearing. They stole all the loot, I was a little peeved cause they went down and I still picked them up immediately ve letting them bleed and revive after I cleared the infestation and collected the loot. My revenge? Lured the Mega out to ruin their day and bounced.

The amount of panic I sensed from you when you realized

They don’t have a “leash” range. Tier three zombies are fast enough to not lose track of you as you move so if a person goes into tier three and travels on foot to tier one they will be able to follow, also they can change aggro and go from chasing one player to chasing another. I’ve seen tier three dogs and two dogs as well as tier two and three zombies in tier one exfils. Zombies don’t stop chasing you unless you get a certain distance away and with how fast tier three’s are, it’s very hard to get away fast enough on foot.

I left tier 3 on foot after pap and three or four followed me to tier 1. I was quite surprised
