Found my old car diagnostic laptop – it’s never had any updates and is running factory xp.

Either way you’re about to pay for Winamp.

If you have nothing to lose on the device and your other ones are secure, then sure. However, you might benefit from installing a lightweight Linux distribution with modern security updates instead, and bring some life to this machine.

You can connect it to the internet. But don’t do anything on it like sign into accounts on outdated browsers.

There’s an updated fork of Chromium for XP called Supermium. And apparently a new one called XPChrome which is a modern Chrome browser that works natively on XP somehow.

If you can updated it to Linux or windows 10 then yes

I legit thought Packard Bell was dead *well* before the Windows XP era.

Put a lightweight linux distro like MXLinux on it. Bit it’ll work better than you’d expect.

I use Windows 98 SE on the internet daily XD You should be totally fine, just be careful 😁

Genuinely curious why everyone says to not connect to the Internet on this?

Yes but you don’t can using the browser

  13. Oh jeez, just talking about internet next to it can put the world on danger.

Yes. Straight into the modem without a router.

    Why?

I wouldn’t. It will probably not immediately have anything going wrong but that thing is full of security holes waiting to be exploited by the massive amount of bots constantly knocking trying to find machines such as this, so I’d say its just a matter of time.

I like the installer for Firefox v43 on the desktop. Dec 2015 it looks like was the last time this computer was on the web
