They literally had the base down with Black Flags. What gets me is that with all the things removed like leaving your ship to explore or boarding other ships that the focus on ship combat would mean an improvement over Black Flags. But it isn’t.

  2. Let’s be real, these reviews are kids-gloves too. Most people already knew this game was a dreary sack of soulless dog shit and steered clear entirely of going anywhere near it.

In other words, the only reviews you are seeing are from people who didn’t do any research or have any exposure to this flaming dumpster fire. The actual incendiary reviews will never be written because gamers aren’t going to touch this Ubisoft trash with a ten foot pole, ever.

  3. FrigidArctic

Yeah cause it’s a fucking boring game that should not have taken 10 years.

Metacritic user reviews open to “generally unfavourable” scores.

    That’s it. for every game.

That said S&B is basically a mobile game with $10 GOTY edition at cdkeys written all over it.

  5. Uncanny_Apparition

Ubisoft should learn to shut their mouths. Half of the reason games get bad reviews is simply because of bad press like it being the first “AAAA game”.

    Game still sucks though.

  6. Is_U_Dead_Bro

I’m sorry to anyone who pays money for this game, but I fully expect this game to have a life cycle similar to anthem.

  7. Twin_Titans

As soon as it’s online only it’s pretty much a guarantee it’s going to be crap now a days.

  8. BusterRoughneck

Thanks to unfavorable Skull and Bones reviews I started playing AC: Black Flag and am enjoying it a lot.

  9. Noximilien01

I was planning getting this game day one

Turn out its not on steam at release, saved me a bunch of money.

  10. Flash_ina_pan

Ubisoft are just romantic, it took 11 years to screw the pooch

  11. Cirenione

11 years development which started as a spin off of an existing game. Sea of Thieves got released 6 years ago even though both started around the same time. And all this pre existing work and 11 years of development result in „generally unfavourable“. That is an achievement in itself.

The world isn’t ready for AAAA games. The hierarchy of gaming is about to change.

  13. wildrose_rebecca

Honestly, it’s a joke. More hype than substance. Ubisoft really dropped the ball on this one.

  14. Standard ubisoft. Kings of copy and paste gameplay.

  15. TheRoscoeVine

All I’ve seen about that game is that it’s laughably bad. Epic scale fail. I don’t know anything about the gaming industry, but just in terms of general product development, how could they fuck that up so bad? Cool title, and it’s about pirates. đŸ€·

  16. B1llGatez

I don’t believe for a second this game actually spend 11 years in development but rather one year and the rest they were just fooling around.

  17. ObscuraArt

Ubisoft needs to get comfortable with the idea this game is overpriced dogshit with MTX. Making clownshoe claims like AAAA game is the icing on top.

  18. dub-fresh

It’s not so much bad as disappointing. So many long years waiting for a sequel to Black Flag and mechanically the game is worse. It looks slightly better, I guess? Everything else is a downgrade from a 10 year old game.

  19. FratSpaipleaseignor

The only A that game get is Ass

  20. DaDoomSlaya

I made the decision to avoid Ubisoft as a publisher ever since the first Watchdogs came out. I know better games have since been released, but there was a terrible ick i got playing watchdogs. Shit was incredibly average but touted as “next gen”, with plenty of decent reviews
I never trusted their crap again, seeing the same copy/paste games, reskinned with literally nothing different except maybe a graphics/ui update.

I keep seeing the word “soul-less” and that hits the nail on the head for me and this publisher.

  21. Hot Take: If it was a USD $20 game, it would be worth picking up to play with friends. It sells for AUD $90 here for the basic edition and that’s a joke

There’s no endgame and I basically finished it in the open Beta + free 8hr Trial. I’ve had fun despite the lack of ground combat but it’s already time to move on, I’m not spending $90 on a game I can finish in a weekend with only daily repeatable missions to offer

  22. Task_wizard

Oh, interesting, it’s dropped from where it was on Steam a few days ago then. It stuck out to me as a surprise because of the Reddit impressions I had seen.
