Best way to preserve this cables functionality. Willing to spend some money on a diy fix. It works fine

Electrical tape, hot glue, something like that.

Otherwise replace the cable. Shouldn’t be too expensive.

  2. Basic fix isduct or electrical tape. A bit more advanced would be heat shrink sleeves or wraps and maybe a bit of adhesive.

    Just replace the cable?

    itl be super cheap

If it’s an IEC C5, just replace it.

If it’s something hard to replace, get some adhesive lined heatshrink with a 3:1 shrink ratio (or 4:1 if you can find it). It won’t be perfect, but it will make it safe and provide some strain relief.

Tape it lengthways with 2-3 strips then bind around.
Can’t see you getting shrink wrap tight enough to work past the connector – only way to do that would be to cut and rejoin the cable.

What is that, a laptop charger? Those are cheap. Like 15 to 30 bucks. Just replace it. Until it arrives I’d just wrap it with electrical tape.

That type of cable is really easy to replace

Is there some reason duct tape wouldn’t work?

Consider that it is mains voltage, swap it asap

Sugru is made for that ! It’s some kinda paste, you wrap it around the sensible area and it hardens at the contact of air to become this flexible type of plastic 😎

Wrap a little bit of “Sugru” around that spot …

Yes yes, I know: when you unpack it, the stuff looks like plasticine or “Play-Doh”, something small children would play with …

Just let it dry for a bit. It will turn into a solid once it’s dry.

Fixing busted cables like yours is in fact one of the use cases they present in their marketing materials. I’ve used it many times and it works wonders.

    Try it.

I used a simple clear tape on my xbox controller

It’s like a $2 cable if you know where to shop, my man…

…. Electrical tape? Aren’t those cords usually $1 anywhere you go get used stuff?
