Idk about windows but most desktops on Linux are good at detecting the best resolution and refresh rate of your monitor.

My friend was this… 240hz HDR1000 monitor, when agreeing to check his settings it was set to 120hz, 8bit and didn’t use HDR in any game or media…
Why do do you even have that screen my dude?
Changed the settings accordingly and loaded a color profile for his screen from rtings, all good now and he feels like he tapped into an entirely new world.

On the flip side you’ll be able to recognize the difference when applicable quite clearly once you’ve experienced, so as long as you haven’t already owned a 144 before you aren’t really that much of a clown.
At least until you decide to just play games that cap at 60. Or modded slideshow-fests. Then you can bring the nose back out like I do XD.

I was the friend who noticed. I was over at his house and he was playing csgo. 32″ 1080p monitor. I was like why not 24″? but hey if it looks good to you that’s all that matters but I could genuinely see individual pixels and I was sitting further away than him. Then I noticed it was only 60fps and he has a 3080. He denied, but I said right click desktop and go into display settings. C’mon man…This person took me to Micro Center for the first time -_- haha
