Went to use my points for a small purchase a couple days ago and after many phone calls to corporate, “look into this nonsense” from them, me explaining that they never sent me an email or anything about expiration, that I have had these points forever and am still an active power up rewards member, they wouldn’t return 20 years of me saving points up.
Basically stole almost every point I have ever saved since I was a kid because they changed their rules on points and how they expire now.
Absolute criminals and very sneaky practices. I will never enter their store again after being a very good customer for quite sometime.
Goodbye Gamestop!

I spent all mine on a Assassins Creed gauntlet and instore credit lol.
The most shocking thing here is that people still go to gamestop
This kind of shit needs to be illegal.
> Natural Expiration
At least your points went in their sleep.
Oh I’d not take this kindly
I stopped using gamestop years ago. They started redeeming points automatically every month on $5 coupons that expired in like a week.
Burned through years of points before I found out about it.
Company can shutter up tomorrow for all I care.
That really sucks man but if it makes you feel better you were probably going to die before you spent even 25 percent of those points.
This exact same thing happened to me about 6 or 7 years ago. Same thing, no apology or anything other than a fuck you from their entire support system. I haven’t shopped there since then.
How much is that worth. That’s so shitty to not honor that
I mean, you weren’t worried about this happening? You didn’t have anything to spend them on?? How much is that worth in money?
What would have been the value of those point in dollars?
Same thing just happened to me, I’ve got one more call with them next week. If nothing is done that’ll be it for this 15 year customer.
Price increased, magazine no longer with the subscription, points essentially useless now in their current form. Seems like they’d want to be holding on to the people they do have that still want to buy physically from them.
Tweet Ryan Cohen…he sometimes picks up on shit like this and will try to set it straight.
Hey OP, I know this might be a long shot, but reach out to Ryan Cohen on Twitter about this. Or go a post this over on Superstonk and see how gamestops investors feel about this. Might work out in your favor
Same thing happened to me. I had 60k points only. And went down to 4500. Gave me the final push not to update my pro membership and to shop somewhere else.
Gone. Reduced to atoms
That sucks and shouldn’t have happened. What were you saving all those points for the past 2 decades?
A family member of mine had a similar problem like this with JW Marriott. They expired his points without sending any email beforehand.
every company does this now sadly if anything i’m amazed gamestop of all companies just now switched to doing that.
You should try posting this on twitter or something and @ them. If it gains traction, they might remedy the situation to avoid bad press.
Yea I’d shoot a tweet to Ryan Cohen. Good chance if this gets a bit of traction he’d shoot you a dm to make it right
If you were a GameStop employee and you saw that someone lost this many points surely you would be like hey, here’s like $500 credit or SOMETHING.
Putting an expiry on a digital currency is fucking stupid
This same thing happened to me, I had around 145k, did my yearly renewal and poof.
Fam what were you waiting for thats on you lmao
It happened to me like 10 years ago, and I am still salty enough not to shop there anymore.
My genuine question here is. Why did you never use the points? Clearly you shop there often. You prolly could’ve gotten a console on credits at that point.
how do gamestop points work? i was a manager at a gamestop for like 3 years maybe 15ish years ago and i do not remember them ever doing anything with points. just that terrible magazine subscription and a card that got you 10% off on used games.
Tweet Cohen, this kind of decision is likely made by middle management and is not conducive to long term growth at all. We like the stock, Cohen likes the stock, and we want everybody to like the stock
